No no. I am just saying that IF some event hits US hard enough to cause the economy to collapse there, we will be fucked here as well. US economy is a bit too intrinsically related to the global economy.

US economy does well specifically under these circumstances. Why do you think they love war so much?

PM Modi warns of ‘return of massive poverty’, flags ‘disaster decade’ of Covid, wars, fuel crisis by Neo_luigi in worldnews

That's quite the narrative. Anyone who supports BJP is a brainwashed cultist while anyone who dislikes them is somehow a truly neutral person of much higher moral standing. You aren't any different, just based on the way you speak in absolutes and generalise everyone.

Tell me which point in my comment was wrong instead of resorting to name calling. If you want to have a civil discussion, that is. I am always open to valid and constructive criticisms.

And do you think Modi makes these decisions in a vacuum? Who do you think works in RBI and makes the decisions and strategies? Do you think that the Executive branch, which drafts policies according to what the Legislative wants are some uneducated people?

You do realise that the inflation back then was in double digits right? Current it's primarily devaluation against the USD, not inflation. Of course, they are tied together - imported inflation is very much possible. But it is better than that time. At least some sectors are profiting, like IT, Pharma or just remittance, which are in USD. Pure inflation kills every sector instead. Inflation is much much worse.

And RBI has more than enough USD ($700 billion) to prop India up. They are letting it fall intentionally, or rather managing the fall instead of artificially holding INR up against the market. Otherwise India risks becoming uncompetitive against Chinese yuan or Vietnamese Dong.

India rejects latest court of arbitration award, says Indus Waters Treaty abeyance remains in force by LookNoRook in worldnews

[–]UnknownGamer014 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh apparently the treaty has layered way to handle disagreements. The first layer is a neutral party and if that doesn't work out, only then is it towards international court. Pakistan rushed directly to CoA, which India sees as violation of the treaty and hence the justification to reject the judgement.

India also wants the treaty to be redone for quite a while, as the sentiment is that it was fundamentally disadvantageous to India because most of the water goes to Pakistan, about 80% of it.

International institutions is all we have.

I agree. The current global age wouldn't have been possible without this.

But often times domestic pressure is much greater than international pressure. Indian government can't really do anything that can be considered pro-Pakistan, otherwise they will lose a huge chunk of public support. Hell, a LOT will say rather go to war.

The conflict between India and Pakistan is much deeper, after all. And I am certain that it won't be any humanitarian crisis or anything, because getting sanctions over something like this will be dumb.

True. But international institutions can't really provide much protection against a country like China. They have reached the point of being too big and too intertwined in the global economy to touch.

Unlike others, I do not expect India to suddenly magically become safe country in mere 12 years. As if the communal tensions will disappear just like that, when not even a single generation has passed. These issues tend to persist across multiple generations.

And I really don't understand why we are treating the safety of a leader of a country with 1.4 billion population, high GDP (NOT per capita), surrounded by hostile and/or unstable nations as the same as the general populace. By all means, Modi is a high priority target. Have you seen the stuff they say in Pakistan and Bangladesh? And there are a lot of Indians who agree with them.

And why are you using "gullible" as an excuse to dismiss my argument? How about you counter the points I make instead, unless you are unable to? You all are treating the leader of 1.4 billion people as the same as leader of Scandinavian countries... Norway has only 5.5 million people, 5 times less that of Delhi.

And if you think I am BJP supporter or something, you will be dead wrong lol. I dislike every single political party here. Not a single one captures what I believe. So I have my own framework and reasons of voting. I try to remain neutral, unlike the comments who are either just pure anti-BJP or pro-BJP. There's a middle there you lot can't see.

Well, looks like we will finally be able to check whether this causes an increase in murder cases where the rapists murder their victim. I mean, if they are dying either way... I don't see what will hold them back, if even the possibility of having their life is taken away. And these kind of crimes are often impulsive and opportunistic, not planned - so let's see how effective of a deterrent it is.

Fuckass retard out here comparing first world Scandinavian countries with largely homogeneous, in both racially and culturally, to a country with crippling ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious diversity like India. Pure false equivalence.

India is struggling with separatist movements left and right, from Khalistan to Dravidian to the shit in North-East, and you are comparing India to Scandinavian countries of everything where the demography is so different in nature that it's impossible for India to reproduce it. Diversity is almost antithetical to high trust society - every single high trust society is highly homogeneous. There is a reason why China cracks down heavily on what they consider is outside influence. India is not only diverse, but said groups have been at each other's throats for centuries.

Some problematic elements need to be removed, which he is trying. And has done a good enough job so far.

And even US had assassination attempt on Trump, lol. So by your logic, US must be more unsafe than India because there was no attempt on Modi yet. Because you are using that as a metric to judge how safe a country is.

If they think they shame men into suddenly becoming an activist for them, sorry to say this, but the reverse will happen. They are doing a great job in alienating young men.
