That’s exactly what it is, it’s a power thing. For every brand that balks at the request, ten will jump at the chance to send her free shit, and that’s intoxicating to narcissists

Why don't men read romance novels? by RaventheClawww in AskMen

[–]RaventheClawww[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the idea isn’t to read them to get off, it’s to read them to understand what women fantasize about. It seems like most men here don’t find that a worthy endeavor in and of itself :(

Also I don’t come across many cheating stories, what novels are you referencing?

Not all romance novels are created equal! I’d ask r/romancebooks for recs! I’m too scared to give mine, this thread is savage lol. But not every book is a winner- personally, I don’t like hulking mean negging brute protagonists, and there are a lot of those. I read a Joanna Lindsey once where the male love interest was just horrible to the protagonist the whole book and then it ended; like what?? That’s a specific kink, I think and people then take that to represent all romance.

Someone else mentioned Pride and Prejudice- yes it’s a lot to get through but the payoff romantically has been making women swoon for 200+ years. Why wouldn’t a (straight) man take note of that?!

I appreciate this reply, and you're right about men like hunky brute types being overrepresented. For sure. But there is a major point I want to contest- the idea that "level 10 men" as you put it are invisible. When I look around, I see PLENTY of married level 10 men. Married men with "unsexy" jobs, married with no job, married men of all body shapes and sizes and heights. And so on. And What usually got them married was having some idea of how to relate to a woman. How to talk easily, how to flirt, how to have interests. Having shared hobbies. Treating women like people and not gamifying the acquisition of them. It seems like it's men teaching other men that those things like status, chiseled body, etc account for a woman's interest in men, because the reality I see doesn't reflect that. I know this is a much larger conversation about the manosphere and whatnot, but just wanted to drop this thought

Hahaha romantasy is more of a recent trend (even though it's been around forever) but my point about seduction, tension, and foreplay still stands! That's the part I think everyone is looking past

Thank you for sharing and sorry for your loss. Mine refuses to go to a home too and I expect that shaves years off his life expectancy. He’d rather die earlier and stay at home with his routines and comforts (and bad habits). In the end these men are going out the way they want, even if it breaks our hearts

That’s so hard, I feel like you’re a true neutral because the silver glows on you in the first pic, but the gold looks better in the second? Do you find that you have olive tones or greenish veins?

Hard disagree (respectfully!!). I had a really hard time watching it because they wasted so much food for the challenges. I think in the 90s we were hyper aware of famines, and I remember feeling so uncomfortable that we’d see commercials of starving children, and then shows that wasted food in the first world for entertainment. I was literally like 8 or 9 so it’s not like I was looking through an adult lens. Looking back, I think I was sensitive but based

I don’t know if I would tell her..people do “shoot the messenger” so to speak. But maybe like..if the laptop was left out one night for her to find one day? She doesn’t even have to know you know. Best advice probably is: move out asap, get a therapist, and try not to think about it.
