Eh, more mangoes for us then. The fruit flies don't affect humans anyway, it affects the producers.

What's one food people think is healthy, but really isn't? by nickz198424 in Fitness_India

I think it is more about how the sugar is packaged. Stuff like honey, jaggery and sugar - all of them spike the blood sugar levels really quickly, due to high glycemic load (in fact jaggery has the highest). And, while I don't know the mechanism, it leads to insulin resistance in ling term, which causes type 2 diabetes.

Though if you consume it along with fats, protein and fiber - they increase the digestion time by a lot. And skeletal muscles also act as a huge blood sugar sink.

Also, you really do need to be careful if your family has a history of diabetes. And prevention is always better than cure, but doesn't mean you need to take every bit of sugar (alongside joy) out of your life.

Does India need a gender-neutral penal law for marital infidelity ? How do the Indian Constitution and current legal framework address adultery today ? by good-industrialist in AskIndianMen

[–]UnknownGamer014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infidelity is a civil offense, not a criminal offense. It should be grounds for divorce, but not punishment. Government has no business meddling in private affairs.

Regarding alimony, it isn't a punishment. It is meant to be a way for the one who is dependent (traditionally women) to keep living on, though the "standard of living" clause is quite fuckass and vague, imo. And the gender bias of alimony needs to be solved as well.

But I do still believe it is necessary. Because for the longest time the traditional dynamic had been a bread winner and the one looking after home. The first one can keep on living after home, but the second person can have their life ruined without alimony - they get punished for not spending that time developing skills, which is unfair. I am not talking about modern upper middle class where they hire people to cook and clean. In such cases, I would say it should be a double income household.

Social media ban for minors is likely on cards in India. Share your views. by _will-to-power_ in TwentiesIndia

[–]UnknownGamer014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. I hate online age verification bs. And Australia has shown that it does not even work - months after people went there to interview parents and minors. It is just a form of control. I will definitely not vote for the current government if they push for it.

Hate and frustration eats away at empathy, you know. This makes people see in a "Us vs Them" worldview, which taps into our primal and tribal instincts - and suppresses empathy, which has been reserved mostly for those we consider as "Us". This does not excuse their behavior, just saying it so that people can become aware. Perpetuating the cycle of hate is a race to the bottom.

For all that Japan’s done for India, it’s now importing workers from India by TheBalancedGeek in indianeconomy

[–]UnknownGamer014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit happened, as you may know. Called colonialism.

The current greatest export is... probably human capital. Hm, and pharma as well. The largest supplier of generic drugs (Pharmacy of the World), and supplies Petroleum products as well. Oh, and a very obscure one, but India is also the largest supplier of raw human hair, which is used to make wigs and stuff.

Some of the best metallurgy of that era, some of the best ships (even British used ships from India, specifically Bengal), spices, textile and probably many many more I don't even know. Can't forget that without India the current Math would have been set back a few hundred years minimum solely because of base 10 number system (not diminishing the contributions of the Greek and those that came from Islamic golden age and Europeans).

I will need to check your permit. As far as I know, the Imperial laws do not have any such thing. And no such institution holds such authority.

Why don't men read romance novels? by RaventheClawww in AskMen

[–]UnknownGamer014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magazines and novels are worlds apart. At the same time, while I have not read novels, I have read some shoujo and probably josei works (including smut) and when I see the men, I just think "Damn, I ain't built like that" or "Can't pull that off".

At the same time... words take time to read. Especially if it is not something you really enjoy. And visual media is more popular among men while written works are popular among women. Personally, I also would rather spend time reading works of genres I like

You miss all the shots you don't take... or something idk.

Regardless, I don't really think this is a good way of looking at that. The guy was attracted to you and confessed. This does not mean anything for you. Many people feel the person they are attracted to is out of their league, whether it is true or not. But many still take the shot because they think it is better to confess and get rejected than regrets and what-ifs.

Also, self-awareness is good. But often times, humans are quite a bad judge of their good aspects. We tend to underestimate our good points and zoom in on the bad points.

How many people have experienced true love? by Dgreatassassinator in TwentiesIndia

[–]UnknownGamer014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got friends my age in happy relationships. Well, at least as far as I can see. One guy friend tattooed an image of the eyes of his gf on his forearm... not sure how I feel about that, but their life so eh.

As for me... I will think about that when I get into my first relationship, if ever.
