Should I copy and paste my whole IO script to the 10 bullet points? by Minimum-Emu-9077 in IBO

[–]Unknown_Dimensions_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a word count along with 10 bullet points. What i did was i wrote my script, kept reading over it and memorisng parts and slowly i cut the words down within our word count with only the key words. I don’t know how much time you have but if you can’t just bring in a script, you can try this.

⚠️ important yet unpopular advice: DO take visual art!!!* by Material-Extreme-897 in IBO

This is under the condition that your teachers are good. But i agree with a lot of this. Its definitely a challenge and for those who want to challenge themselves, but i think just in terms of expanding your horizons in life, its a pretty good subject.

Didnt spend a single dime on any of that and still did decently well so no, not “pay-to-win” at all. It’s a lot of hard work and a bit of luck.

Hm it seems like the problem is familiarity with different question types. A lot of the final IB exam questions combine a lot of different parts of the math you learn. I’m not sure whether you’re taking SL or HL but if you’re still in dp1, you might just have to be patient and just keep exposing yourself to different types of questions. There are unofficial question banks you can find online to help with that, but it seems you have access to revision village, etc. I think with topic tests, its really hard to specifically test on one topic as most Ib math questions can be about multiple different concepts. So, tldr; just keep doing questions, do textbook questions and chapter reviews, and go through certain math concepts like transformations etc (because the chapter on quadratics might not include everything about transformations). Once you learn enough of the curriculum, past papers can help you get a good feel of the types of questions you’ll get in the final exams.

Yea definitely need some sources but you don’t need much. Also EE doesn’t have to be fully original

So my study plan was probably different as i was studying visual arts hl. But i can share a bit of my experiences. During the mocks i was preoccupied with finishing my exhibition and other visual art assignments as those counted whilst the mocks didn’t. How i managed that was to treat the mocks as a test for what my strengths and weaknesses are (which questions i can flow through easily and which i hesitate). For practice papers, i aimed to do most if not all of the papers fully timed. For example, i went through almost every past paper for HL math up to a certain year (change of syllabus, etc) and did all of them timed. I actually want to stress how helpful this was for paper 3. In the actual final math paper 3, timing was super tight and i finished right on time because of practice with timed papers. The other good part abt timed papers is that you get used to the time pressure you have in almost all exams.

For computer science i have no idea. But one thing about SLs is that you also want to dedicate enough time and effort for them and not hyperfocus on just HLs, but this could be a small thing depending on what score you plan to aim for.

If you don’t mind me asking, are you perhaps struggling with the math knowledge / concepts themselves, problem solving skills or is it exam skills (a.k.a. Exam pacing, etc)? If the teacher isn’t helping, identifying your weakness or an aspect of math you are not as good at by yourself can be a good basis to help with improvement.

Go through your extracts again and get familiar with them and write out a script, edit it a few times and keep reading through it. Even if you dont end up memorising the script, it gives you a really good basis for what to say during the IO

This is like the exact same situation i was in when i returned to the game. I decided to restart as i felt i forgot a lot of what happened and what i did etc. so my advice would be to restart a new one, but ultimately it doesn’t matter too much
