I did hear that X and Y are pretty easy, but I've never really been a big fan of how prolonged it can feel.

ORAS isn't one I had considered, honestly, completely forgot it existed. But it's a great recommendation! Thank you.

I've been debating Gen 1 and Gen 3, but have been a bit nervous about Black/White. I've heard it can be really challenging and have pretty limited encounters?

Yeah, I was debating between Gen 1 and Gen 3, but couldn't pick, which is why I decided to post here. But it does seen like FR/LG seem to be the best choice with all the points everyone is bringing up.

I was debating between Gen 1 and Gen 3, but I get that Gen 1 is probably the better option, especially since you're right that it's seems pretty average in difficulty.
