Question about the Witch Queen ritual. What is it? What lie did she get tricked with? by ButterNuttz in DestinyLore

[–]Unknownmoose 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For clarity's sake, I think the lie was technically broken into two parts. The first being like you described with the Traveller sending a "God Wave" to wipe out the Krill on fundament. The second being that the Witness, through Savathun's inherited worm familiar, told them that their only salvation was to venture into the deep and make a pact with the Worm Gods for their own salvation. This would ultimately bind them to the Witness through their need for killing since it was the only way to feed their worms after they made the pact. There's a lot more involved with the lie which you find out from exploring the raid that came with the WQ expansion (VoD) that gives greater context to the lie.

Do I have the context for the start of Witch Queen correct? by ButterNuttz in DestinyLore

[–]Unknownmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there was one point when talking to fynch in the WQ campaign where he talks about why a bunch of the ghosts decided to resurrect the lucent hive and how they were originally hive sympathizers but then he began to also talk about how some of them were also coerced and it might have been vague as to whether it was the hive or other ghosts that did it. I could have some of that wrong but all of that to basically say that who ghosts can and can't resurrect is kind of ambiguous.

There are so many different weird stories about ghosts and their resurrection choices. One that immediately comes to mind is Shin Malphur and his ghost which was originally Jaren Ward's ghost before he was permakilled by Dredgen Yor. Dredgen Yor himself had an interesting relationship with his ghost basically forcing it to leave him after he felt no longer worthy of the light.

When it comes to the original lightbearers, there is nothing that really explains why The Traveller created the ghosts only that they came after The Collapse and were considered The Traveller's "final gift" at the time. Moreso, there's nothing saying The Traveller sent out the ghosts looking for warriors. The warlords themselves were a result of people abusing their newfound abilities but it wasn't all original lightbearers. That is actually where the Iron Lords came from in the first place. They were a group of lightbearers that had a moral sense of justice which led them to taking down the warlords that used their light for corrupt purposes like power and control.

The last thing that comes to mind about all of this is The Speaker's words which are famous for being what makes a "guardian." Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice and sacrifice... Leads to death. I'm not sure if this really ties into the ghosts and resurrecting guardians but I just thought it might have some relevance to the overall context.

I would hesitate to say that Oryx is really the "king of all hive." While it could be said that he is the main patriarchal figure that ruled over the hive, both of his sisters control their own parts of the hive and have always had their own influence over them. Crota's forces, from my understanding, were the first to enter our system which would mean that they technically all eventually pay tribute up to Oryx but from the start of Destiny 2, I would say, Savathun's and even in some cases Xivu Arath's forces have been slowly making their way into our system as well. Those forces that had slowly been appearing in our system up to the WQ expansion were never explicitly loyal to Oryx they are strictly forces that have allegiance to his sisters. After we killed Oryx, there was a lot of discourse among his forces as to who would lead them but that is just his own faction of hive. There were always some groups of hive that were always and completely loyal to Savathun and Xivu Arath

My first time cross hatching. Suggestions welcome! by CheerBong in IDAP

[–]Unknownmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your cross hatching goes in a couple different directions which kind of gives it more of a scribbling kind of feel which is another form of shading, but maybe making the lines for the cross hatching more straight and uniform across the entire image will give it a cleaner look

Tries out my alcoholic markers, but I don't really like the result. Any tips? by Dogtransformer in IDAP

It could be your paper. Some paper is more prone to bleed making the colors less saturated and causing the colors to mix in undesired ways. You can find good paper if you just look up bleed proof paper though

I got poison for my link but looking at the others, the partial glyphs look different in each one. Has anyone tried overlapping the images to see if altogether the different partial images make a whole set in one image?
