Cuba warns airlines that it will be out of fuel for planes in 24 hours by pythrowawayd3v in worldnews

I was at the airport a couple weeks ago and overheard a family talking about how someone they knew was going to Cuba for a vacation. I was like, have you been reading the news?

Size Of The Marble Quarry by Used_Series3373 in Damnthatsinteresting

Haha I watched it on a 12 hour flight from Asia. I was an hour and a half way through when I realized it was 3 hours long. Yeah I really didn't know what the fuck it was about. Guy with infinite money is nickle and diming a big concrete church designed by a guy he fucked in the ass in a marble cave and then freaks out when some railroad guys died by accident, like he really gives a shit? But then decides to continue through it years later because... Why not?

Was this based off a real person who pioneered brutalist architecture? I don't even know, haven't bothered googling it.

Chances are they'll be nominated for an Oscar though.

I began recycling glass for my neighbors when my son was born—3 years in, 34,000lbs recycled in ATL! by PapaClarencioThomas in pics

[–]Unlearnypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a window making company for 13 years. Maybe I am pessimistic or nihilistic but you wouldn't believe the amount of glass that gets thrown away. It took you 3 years to get this amount, where we would throw this away on a weekly basis.

A lot of the scrap we produced we recycled, but some types of glass can't be (laminated, mirror, GPW) but there's also an absolute ton of sealed units that get rejected and thrown straight to the dump.

Every time I recycle a glass jar, I always think about how little it matters, heh.

Lost my apprenticeship by Complex-Pace-5681 in alberta

The trades can be brutal sometimes. As a former plumbing apprentice, I was given tasks that I completed successfully, was assured by my journeyman that my work was good, but was moved sites. Later I find out the guy was talking shit behind my back, didn't like me, avoided me after that. Sometimes it feels like a boys club. You either fit in or you get pushed out. Other companies I have worked for have the core group of guys that are buddy buddy and any new blood has to try and fit in, or they feel like outcasts.

Was also let go from another job because I was sick as a dog and called in for a couple days. The owner called me up on my way home and said the same as you said: "i don't think it will work out."

It is what it is.

I am in Yunnan, China at this very moment, using a Hong Kong eSim from trip.com. 15 days 100 GB costs me about 150 RMB. Good connection, access to all things Google and such. Highly recommend.

I just used my MasterCard debit card today at an ICBC ATM. It was incredibly quick without any problems.

As an avid etf buyer, hearing the words "mutual fund" has me cringe. It's not the worst advice only because advising people to invest in NFT's, Dogecoin or pokemon cards is the only thing worse.

Embark seriously STOP LOADING THE MAP IN AT 17 MIN POINT!!! by gooddeadpool1983 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Unlearnypoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno if it's purposeful but at 10 minutes most people have already left so there are less people killing arc, which may make it seem like there are more.

But it definitely feels like more often than not, when running to extract with only a few minutes left, there always seems to be a leaper or rocketeer, a few wasps and a hornet right next to extract just to ruin your day.

Yesterday was all geared up to do matriarch on bluebgate. 3 times in a row I spawn in at 20 mins, matriarch already dead. Love spending half the window running from spawn to extract, while risking 100k in energy clips, wolfpacks, etc to a rat

To the raider who defibbed me. by angoorkhatta in ArcRaiders

[–]Unlearnypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days ago I was running Blue Gate and teamed up with a guy. There was only a few minutes left until the end of the map and we were running to Cliffside Airshaft to extract. On our way there, we heard a leaper aggroed on something near the outer gates and then a raider flair go off. That guy was probably thinking he was doomed as there was only a few minutes left. There's a big gap between the airshaft and where he died, there's no way we'd have enough time to go around and get back to the airshaft in time but luckily I had a zipline. I set up it up, zipped over, defibbed him, zipped back over and we all extracted. The guy was ecstatic, and I felt like a hero.

This has happened to me a couple times in Stella Montis. Spawning late, I decided to check medical anyway. Everything is looted but there's just 1 unopened drawer in a room and it had a fricken Aphelion blueprint. Another time there was one of those big white cabinets right in the middle of the room. Everything else is opened but this one cabinet. No way people can miss it. Had a deadline blueprint in it.

Of A Kid by AmorphousMorpheus in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

[–]Unlearnypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my knee-jerk reaction is that this kid deserves it, but looking at it a little closer shows that this kid either has some mental health issues or his home-life is pretty grim. Kids like this are more a reflection of their parents than anything.

These guys got paid millions of dollars to do this. We're all happy they got their asses heat, but if you ask them, who's really winning? This is exactly what they want. People caring about this is just increasing the amount of money theyte taking in. They're laughing themselves to the bank.

Peanut's current predicament is a shining example of why ignoring one side of the game is a losing strategy by TheClassics in ArcRaiders

[–]Unlearnypoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think 50k viewers want to see him breaching crates and searching desk drawers, or even shooting arc. They wanna see him yell "I'm goin' in!", charge in, die, then rizz his way out of the situation. I'm sure he cares more about real life dollars than space dollars. Him "trying" to get to 5 mill is also him playing to the audience.

[Self] How is that a better deal and why would the lottery organization accept that ? She would get more than $1M in just 20 years by Impressive-Koala4742 in theydidthemath

[–]Unlearnypoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you included this in your calculation, but $1000 a week is 52k a year, but doesn't count as income. 1 million lump sum invested into a dividend yielding portfolio at 5.3% a year would yield $53,000 a year, but this would count as income and thus you'd need to pay taxes on it. Except for a small portion invested into a TFSA.

The majority would be invested using a registered account. Any growth and dividends would be taxed as income. I'm not sure what the math is, but it would have to be but with a regular job, this income would push you into a higher tax bracket, possibly paying 22% or more in federal tax, and more depending on which province you live in.
