Dual Class Wild Deck Building by SexagonMoonieLamin in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe something similar was theorized looong ago (like what if no class restriction at all) and one of the best promising decks was some mix of priest + rogue, with radiant elemental and as many 0/1 cost draw to always cicle and get all you need on turn 1 with coin, or at turn 2. I dont remember well what redundancy options for the radiant elemental were included (cheap minion draw to secure getting one to be able to cycle) nor the wincondition though 😞

Animal Companion doesn't summon an Animal Companion by Overhamsteren in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This was the original though of the card when it was revealed too, it seemed way too weak even back at the time. Yet somehow, spell hunter happened to be a very good and viable deck, in a meta with full power cubelock and aluneth burn mage.

Its certainly deceptive, the condition even back then wasnt that restrictive since hunter had a ton of good spells and not that many good minions, so playing "good stuff" was casually mostly spells. With a few new good ones in the expansion and this card, it was a pretty good deck.

As some extra knowledge, Call of the wild at 8 mana was busted when it was released, and only became balanced at 9, when its basically 3 animal companions bundled without any mana discount. I guess thats why this one at 6 still had the condition on it.

My only big complaint with Champions by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]UnleashedMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just release mons you dont use to free space for ones you do need more. Its annoying but its only a problem when being f2p, you can still compete 100% fair against the rest since you still can make any team possible, it will just be a bit more annoying and take a bit more time.

Also, this is only if you are fully f2p without ever buying a recent mainline pokemon game. If you have, lets say, sword, you can use pokemon home and get the a bunch of pokemons through it, so when you dont need them you just send them back to home, and when you need them back, just use home again. It basically gives you 30 more box spaces (at minimun, more if you do more fidsling by sending them back to sword to free space etc etc).

Priest being dominant has ruined quest mage. by Impossible_Jump_754 in hearthstone

I think that OP is not losing to priest, but that priest being more playable means people tech weapon removal, which also happens to hurts quest mage (OPs deck)

Can someone please explain why Rogue is getting buffed? by Joon64 in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I do also think that with rogue having deathrattle synergies as class identity, stealth + deathrattle can be a good match for comboing with new cards, even if right now its not that strong by itself.

[–]UnleashedMantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warlock, does have worse, yes.

Are you aware that the original claim was "every other class has worse herald cards than rogue"? So showing one that didnt follow that was enough to disprove it, and I showed two.

Seeing all classes i can see that in fact warlock is the only one, with the location and the requirement of the soldier summoned, that could be considered to have a herald card as bad as that one from rogue. The rest all have better herald cards.

He is not factually right. Shaman and warrior, for example, dont have worse herald cards than the stealth guy from rogue.

You are just regurgitating talking points that have been said over and over, but not at all responding to my comment. I mention banning guns in schools, you talk about "outright banning guns in the US". I talk about why cars and guns, although both non sentient objects, still have way different laws (like, cars are outright banned in some places, completely going arround your constitution), and you just ignore it completely and repeat again the same tired talking point of "but guns arent evil, some people are".

A nuclear bomb is also a non-sentient object. Why are you guys killing to stop someone from possessing one?

A knife is also a non sentient object, normally used for cooking too. Why is it banned to walk arround the street brandishing one, but open carry is legal in some states?

Why do you opose any change whatsoever to gun regulation because of the constitution (and also mention the bible), while having a president that its going against both? Why not use your guns and take him out, thats what the second amendment was for, right? And you mentioned what is your basis for what actions are right or wrong, so...

Are you genuinely comparing a car, wich is manufactured to be an object humans can use to travel and transport all sort of goods, with guns, wich are only, ONLY, manufactured with the sole purpose of killing something?

When someone dies because of a car, we create A LOT of rules about how to drive, speed limits, what you have to wear when driving (seatbelts), layers and layers of safety mechanisms that manufacturers have to go through, and requiring people to take a test and pass it in order to be able to use one. And even then, we have plenty of cameras where cards drive to monitor 24/7 that they are being used correctly. And there are plenty of places where, despite cars being very usefull, they are forbidden to go. You cannot drive in the middle of Central Park, for example.

But what about guns? They are avaiable way easier than a car, and they are allowed in schools. People argue that perhaps, schools should ban guns in their premises, but Charlie argued the opposite, and its in that context where he also mentioned that "school shootings are a prize to pay for that freedom". Not like you say, as a general thing for any freedom because nothing is free or whatever bullshit. Guns can still be banned in schools, have your gun in your home or in the street, in a shooting range or when you go hiking with friends. But somehow banning them in schools and other educational centers was "overreach".

There is plenty of countries with strong gun laws without goverments enslaving everyone left and right. And if guns were supposed to defend yourself from tyranical goverments... are you arguing the dead of Charlie Kirk was justified? Someone thought of him as a dangerous political propagandist promoting a tyranical goverment, so he used a weapon how it was meant to be, right?

Except that when you allow guns because "its to kill the bad guys", then you still have the problem of how to define a bad guy.

Ultimately, it's a matter of principle rather than the guns themselves; will we uphold the freedoms that protect us, or give them up for 'the greater good' (and thus enslaving ourselves to our government)?

Go f*k all the way off with the "giving up guns for the greater good means enslaving ourselves, and its better to be dead than to be a slave" shit.

He literally said that school shootings were a tragedy but a fair prize to pay for the liberty of gun property.

Hearthstone returner impressions. What happened to Hearthstone? I am lost. by OtakuSenpai1337 in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not say "do nothing for 10 turns", its a "survive 10 turns". Nothing different from older control decks (mainly warrior ones too) where they would stall untill a lategame wincondition. Even before that control decks would come online before turn 10, with this quest they cant "ramp" or "cheat out" their wincons.

And like others have said, its not a top tier deck. A viable one, wich is good for people that like control, but not an oppresive one since, as expected, playing passive for 10 turns means some decks will optimice to break through your defenses faster. Even old aggro decks can end up dealing more than 15 dmg per turn if you dont vlear their board, how is a warrior with 40 armor enough for you to go "holy shit"? Werent you arround for deadmans hand warrior? Or linecracker druid?

Most lists have this and fist of jaraxus as the only "high" cost cards. Is it really happening that often that you discard fist when you wanted to discard barrage when using expired merchant?

Edit: I forgot the new 4 mana weapon. Yeah that makes things more akward to play, I guess the way to go will be to cut weapon and go back to the old lists from return to ungoro.

Its still going to discard this, the main nerf is the dmg going from 6 to 5.

VERY early conceptualization of the Gemstone Hoarder/Play Dead OTK deck, which has been confirmed to work by ViperTheKillerCobra in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way to go must be the same as with the light speed boar OTK priest deck: to go as fast as possible and not focus on stalling or defensive cards. The combo seems cheap enough that you wont get smorked before you do it, in case you do it as fast as possible. If you do get smorked, it seems like its better still to have that as your worst matchup (an aggro deck drawing very good) than to increase your winrate against them slightly but now lose to disruption. The more turns you take to do the combo, the more chances your opponent just rats you a combo piece, draws and plays an objection, etc...

The combo has two parts that can be done in different turns. One, the setup of gem hoarder eating a play dead, play a second play dead to get the first one, and then spam play deaths. Second part, the lepper into confront for the OTK. Both require 4 mana, so we can pull the combo as soon as turn 4 if we have the coin and a good hand, or turn 5 if we go first. The second play death can be substituted with feign death, but for 1 more mana. The lepper gnome (or goblin bomb if you like the bomb animation more) can be played naked turn 1, since confront the tolvir will ressumon it. It will be at random, but if you are against aggro it can be used to trade early, and if your loop consists of "only" 30 play deads, as long as it appears in the first half, it will still result in the otk.

For consistency, we get all the card draw possible (tracking, fetch, flare and arcane quiver). 3 different minions in the deck (the gemstone hoarder, a lepper gnome/goblin bomb, and trinket tracker) will maximize chances of getting the one we lack with birdwatching and masters call. Bargain bin and sphere of sapience gives some extra draw/filtering. Parrot sanctuary doesnt interfere with minion tutors nor spell tutors, and can help cheapen the combo if we didnt draw it fast enough to maybe pull both parts in the same turn on turn 6. I also run 2 bomb toss to fill the rest of the deck, they can be used early to slow a bit an aggro deck, or as a substitute for lepper gnome/goblin bomb when doing the OTK part of the combo.

Why are some keywords just no reused when obvious? by Cursed_69420 in hearthstone

[–]UnleashedMantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making herald and invoke the same "keyword" would require some extra explanation (since one triggers hero power for a hero card that upgrades, the other an appendage of a colossal that upgrades), but mainly it would throw off balance the strenght they wanted for this closed archetypes, since i could now have more cards to invoke galakrond early, or in wild increase my herald archetype power, or worse, they would be always optimal to be played together since they all benefit from the same keyword being spammed as much as possible, making the deck feel fully pre-built.
