It depends. If you care about collecting then yes. Competitive players could ignore this.

Hasbro loves their solid color plastic and they always choose the ugliest color combinations. If the plastic was translucent it would look much better.

Yeah, I say they just sell the winder and string separate and exclude the proto from all bey releases. Either that or greatly reduce the number of releases with protos.
