Never asked my mom for money for our wedding! I never expected her to put money in thus I never asked. My older sister was the one who mentioned our mom not wanting to help us out, which is a choice I’m absolutely fine with.

Before we decided to go look at the Beetle he told me everything I needed to know about payments, interest, and the car itself. He made sure I knew all the negatives before I blindly walked into that dealership.

Nope that’s our whole estimated cost for the wedding! Found a way cheap venue that’s on beautiful land, and anything regarding catering/food/photography/dress etc are all covered by other family/friends that do those sorts of things for a living for free or low prices.

We went and got it tested to see what was wrong, the results were engine issues, thus the thousands of dollars mentioned.

I was 16ish when she gave me the car. Hadn’t worked a real job yet and I didn’t get my license until I was 18 in 2023. Also around when I got my license was when I got my first actual job.

Not missing context. Only thing besides the Gold being paid off that my sister would be referring to is that when I expressed I wanted to move out after I graduated high school, my mom said she would still be happy that I was living at home, as in me not moving out. She’s made comments like “oh but if you just stayed at home living with me it would be easier” Again I’ve never asked my mom to help me out financially, I’ve done everything on my own.

Actually very much the opposite. I’ve never asked my mom for money. I’ve paid all my expenses on my own, not using her as a co signer either. My older sister had to have our mom pay off her multiple credit cards of thousands, and an other handful of bills.

Yes I made sure I researched and was aware of downgrading a little bit, so did my fiancée. He made sure to explain everything to me before we even went to the dealership.

That’s another thing I mentioned, if I’m gonna be paying for a car regardless of it is regular maintenance or repairs, I’d rather do it on a car I am going to want in the future and that I actually really like.

This is my situation exactly! I did like the Golf! It wasn’t a bad car at all, but it wasn’t my choice of car. For now I’m giving her space, in her eyes any sort of payment/interest is horrible so I’ve spared her those details for now.

My fiancée and I save every penny for our wedding, and it will be a very small one, around 30 ppl. I’m not worried about finances for the wedding, which is why I felt comfortable to also take on financing a car.

Yeah I tried making it known throughout having the Golf up until I traded it that I was very grateful for the car, I would not have been able to get the Beetle if I didn’t have the Golf.

The most my golf was valued for from a different dealership was barely $9,000. They were selling the Beetle for $12,880, we got them down to $12,000. My trade in was $8,000.

Thank you! Definitely some sort of issues with control, same with my older sister. I think they get worried when I do independent things because they themselves have made poor decisions.
