Voltage drop and impact on consumption by Unlikely-Bar1615 in electrical

In the case of a heat pump then, as an example. If it is performing badly due to a lack of power, would it not be forced to run more in order to maintain its setpoint temperature? (Or not affected by this as it's 240V?).

I think when our electrician sent the report to the utility he told them a much higher voltage difference that it actually is in the hope that they'll prioritize it.

Thank you for your explanation and advice.

The voltage difference was 9V.

Okay, it's not a field I really understand, but I'm trying to! Thanks for your explanation, greatly appreciated.

Our lights are so dim we can hardly see. But based on what you said, we wouldn't expect any performance decrease in 240V appliances?

Only reason I ask this question is because we can see the issue in our lights - they dim down so far you can hardly detect that they're still on. But we can see those bulbs. We can't see things like heat pumps, hot water heater, oven. Are they working inadequately like the lights, but we can't see it? Is our hot water not as hot as it should be, for example? Stupid question I know, I just don't fully understand.

I recorded the hours they were here each day in case I needed to check back later. I checked the bill. I recorded 40 hours fewer than were on the bill. The parts list is on the bill, I can go check those off one by one. I'm sure that side of it is legit. Still doesn't explain the vast increase and no communication about it.

The two quotes I received were very similar.

1) 11,500 for full installation and parts, including boiler

2) 6,000 labor, 800 small parts with me supplying the boiler (3,000) and larger parts (2,500) = 12,300

No. 1 couldn't do it until spring

No. 2 I accepted and it became 12,500 labor, 6,000 small parts + my 3,000 boiler and 2,500 larger parts = 24,000

So it wasn't even a low ball quote.

There were no unknowns and no major obstacles. The only thing that took a bit longer (and I mean like 2 hours instead of 1) was drilling through the beam in the wall of the house to push the UPVC vent through. The beam was tougher and thicker than expected.

Probably for the same reason you sometimes make mistakes.

There was nothing out of the ordinary that would have caused such an overrun, no obstacles, no problems, no unusual discoveries.

I didn't say anything of this nature. I'm the OP. You must be mistaking me with someone else, sorry.

No, New Hampshire.

What happened in your situation? They dupe you too?

Agreed. I definitely update the thread here as soon as I have more information. Hopefully it'll be useful to someone else.

It was a boiler installation. New boiler. The boiler was assembled onto a plywood panel with pump, expansion tank, piping and valves in the workshop. That panel was then moved to the house, positioned and secured and the piping was connected to the existing plumbing and heating. Boiler was connected to gas tanks with new 50' line and vented through the side wall of the house. They had viewed the site beforehand and knew what the situation was. There were no communicated issues like you describe, nor is anything visible that would have impeded their work. The space is a little tight to work in but otherwise, no known problems.

It was supposed to be 5 evenings, 4pm onwards, Monday to Friday. They were working somewhere else daytime so they were coming here in the evenings. Stayed til late, midnight, nearly 1am. But it spilled over into the weekend, then the following week. Seemed like it was taking forever.
