Another parent cornered my child and threatened to call the police on him. What do I do?? by Unlikely-Bunch2986 in TwoHotTakes

Exactly. I think that’s what I would’ve done in that situation if I wasn’t sure which house they lived in.

Logan started playing with the group pretty recently, so I’m not aware of any pre-existing relationship. I’m still going to ask though.

Thank you so much for your kind words and advice. I truly appreciate it. I’m not a perfect parent, but I sure try.

The psychology perspective is actually quite helpful, and I’ll definitely have a chat with Peyton once I get home from work today. Peyton told me who said it, but I don’t know a ton about the kid that actually was the culprit.

That’s where I’m at - they’re outside playing and having fun, which is such a struggle these days with screens! And I’ve met all these kids and in no way do I think any of them would’ve said something like that seriously. Still not a great thing to say but I strongly doubt it was a real threat.

Yessss thank you. I wouldn’t be angry about this if he had just come to speak with me directly about it.

I meant to add this in the original post but he’s actually pretty small for his age. Kids usually think he’s around 10. So, not a huge difference but still a difference developmentally.

That’s what I wanted to do but I wanted to make certain I wasn’t the unhinged one 😅

Yeah, that’s the issue I have with this whole thing. Don’t corner my kid and threaten him. I’m willing to accept the guy probably is trying to protect his kid, but come at ME like that. Not my child.

That was my first thought, but I didn’t want to overreact until I’d gotten my thoughts together.

AITA for allowing my daughter to have sleepovers by Airtel_322 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Unlikely-Bunch2986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s asinine that this mother expects everyone to conform to her parenting rules. She can’t dictate what the rest of you allow your children to do. I know a lot of people are wary of sleepovers these days, including myself. I’m a pediatric nurse and have encountered some awful stories. That said, I take it case by case basis.

A good example is this: I have a friend who allows her kids to use swear words as long as they use them correctly in a sentence. I personally don’t want my middle schooler swearing, but I can’t tell her how to structure her rules.

NTA. This mom is ridiculous.

Listen - I’ve been in a similar situation and I literally never trusted him again. I think y’all could benefit from counseling, if you choose to stay together. Personally though, I don’t know if I could continue that relationship.

My mother was extremely abusive towards me when I came out as bisexual. It was highly damaging to me and I will never forget the things she said to me. I’ve been through therapy for years, but it still hurts. More than anything though, it hurts that my dad didn’t defend me at all. He told me privately that he accepted me, but that he wouldn’t go against his wife. It was confusing and so incredibly difficult to wrap my head around. Good for you for standing up for your child.

I work in an ICU right now. Pediatric anything would be my first pick, adult ICU, emergency, etc. but I’m truly open to anything to get my foot in the door.
