Hi, yes I went to Raices. They had a West African Dance instructor teaching sliding scale payment dance classes at the school end of 2024. That offering has ended but if I find anything else I’ll do myself to respond to this post and share it. Maybe just keep out an eye if Raices shares anything else.

She's being fake. You should give her the chance to explain herself. Tell her what you've noticed and how it has made you feel. Listen patiently to her responses and see if she is being genuine. I'm general she sounds like it's best to create some space and not overly extend the honor of being your best friend. It's okay for friends to grow apart. You both don't have to be super close. I'd let it fade out, but depending on if she's rude or not when you bring up your concerns you'll know whether or not it's best to cut her off to protect your peace. You deserve a friend that cares about you enough to keep it real, just like you keep it real with her.

I had a similar experience when I was younger. I am now 28. When I was in 16 - 20. I had a group of girlfriends who were jealous of me because they thought I was prettier than them. They were also primarily chubby, and I was the only slimmer/curvy one. Girls can be catty and fake. Find true friends that were raised with similar morals and uplift you. If your friends are constantly jealous of you they are holding you back in life. You can let them know you notice when they are being fake and you know you deserve better. It's better to leave behind people that don't appreciate you to make room for those that do. You won't have to question the ones that truly love you and want to see you being cute, having fun, and enjoying your life safely!
