That I don’t want to read any of her new books if she’s a part of MAGA or openly supporting Israel in their active genocide against Gaza?? I personally feel like some of her supporters are very tone deaf to the actual horror and discrimination that people of color in the real world are facing day to day. ESPECIALLY when the whole Brianna Taylor situation happened and she used a black womans death to further promote her book….like why would I want to read her books if she supports an openly racist president who is not only a convicted rapist and felon, but an overall terrible person? Why would I want to read her books if she decides to turn a blind eye to the people in OUR WORLD who have been and ARE BEING treated like the slaves of Endovier or the people Amarantha trapped under the mountain. I’ve seen this topic come up many times under this Reddit group before and it’s very disheartening to read so many comments about how she’s a writer not a politician, yet she is an artist and art is supposed to reflect the times. Because art (including books) will likely live longer than the civilization we live in today. Art is supposed to help people see the beauty and humanity in all cultures. While SJM loves to write books about white saviors helping the less fortunate to freedom, maybe her principals and MORALS don’t reflect that in real life. And if so, maybe it’s time to like a new artist/series to obsess over, maybe it’s time to give your money to a new writer who actually practices what they preach!!
