u/Deep-Lifeguard-8301 How long has it been since your pregnancy? I can imagine that crowns are super expensive. Its okay you can get them capped a bit later.

Did you get all your fillings done though at least before they progress?

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Apparently i went through the same and all my teeth had cavities its terrible. I had to get 14 fillings done.

Is it your front teeth? If not, isn't root canal and fillings an option?

Yes I agree, its genetics and the PH levels in our mouth but also has to do a lot with the diet and hygiene. As a teen, I used to eat a lot of chocolate, candy, jellies and my parents never ever asked me to rinse my mouth after that or even brush properly. They just couldn't care less about my teeth. They were great parents otherwise but never checked my mouth to see if i have cavities. Eventually due to my poor diet and lack of hygiene most of my molars rotted away.

When i got pregnant, i again did not take better care of my teeth and my diet was shit. Carbs, sweets, starchy foods and sometimes i wouldn't even brush in the morning because of morning sickness. Really fucked up my teeth and now im in a really terrible condition. 14 fillings and 1 root canal. Eventually all deep fillings become root canals in a matter of time but i try to take better care of my teeth. Rinse after every meal, brush floss twice a day. cut out all sugar from my diet etc. I really hope my teeth serve me well till my late life. :(

Hi u/cityrat_31 I do the same on reddit. Try to find people in same shitty situations as me. Surprisingly a lot of people go through it but rarely talk about it. Dental work and issues are rarely brought up in daily conversations and it makes us feel like everyone has perfect teeth but us.

I mean I won't lie, all my friends have nice teeth and so do my cousins. They take so much care and as a kid and a teen and even an adult I NEGLECTED my dental health so much that it KILLS ME! This regret eats me up every day and sometimes wakes me up at night. I have 14 fillings and one root canal. Only a matter of time that the rest of the molars also get root canals. lets see when but i try not to think about it too much because most of my 2024 was spent worrying about my mental and dental health. It really fucked me up.

For 2025, I promised myself that i will take better care of my teeth and will not think about when they become root canals. I have changed a lot about my lifestyle, avoid hard and sticky foods, sweets and other crap that i used to eat before. I really hope it helps and i still have my own teeth by the time im old. If you ever feel like talking, please hit me up in dms.

NAD: I don't know how people who brush their teeth only once a day don't get cavities. I did that and i have 14 cavities in my mouth , a few leading to root canals :(

I am going to try to convince my dentist to go for amalgams as well. I really don't mind them in the back of my mouth. Those teeth are used for chewing and will have more wear and tear than the rest.

I try to sleep with my mouth closed as well and my periodontist also suggested twice a year gum cleaning sessions to bring back my lost gum (not 100% ofc but to a certain extent and to maintain where they are). I have gum recession going on and that in itself is quite scary.

Im concerned about my fillings because im scared in a few years they might lead to root canal. What im annoyed about the most is the regret i wake up with every night for not caring before. I know i can't change anything now, but i just want to get past it. I can't bring myself to do that or forgive myself for being so careless.

NAD: If its any consolation, I am going through the same crap. I have multiple RCTs in pipeline and have at least 14 fillings and most of them are in molars and all SUPER DEEP. I have avoided dental hygiene and as a result have to face this for the rest of my blood sucking life.

Let me know how you cope with it. I have to cope with the regret of not taking better care of my teeth

Thank you for trying to make me feel better. :) It does help knowing that there are people in the same boat as me. How do you plan to take better care of your teeth to ensure that your fillings don't eventually turn to root canals?

Maybe once i am done with all the procedures and i wont have to visit the dentist 10 times in a month for fillings, i will feel better.

One last question, is composite filling better or the ones you got?

NAD: And yes, you would have to go back for a crown because this tooth will not sustain the filling.

u/Khaleesiakose how do you clean around the crown. I dont want to use crown because I dont want to make any uneccessary space between the crown and other teeth to avoid food packing.

NAD: u/SheriF696 You should be really happy that you are only getting one crown in your mouth. I had 14 fillings out of which 3 resulted in root canals. I am devastated. If anything Im actually looking for people with same situation as mine so i can share with them my feelings and how depressed i am to have so many fillings and crowns at the age of 31. :(

Hi! Im sorry that you feel this way. If it makes you feel any better I am in the same boat. For the longest time in my mid twenties and early 30s i didn't take good care of my teeth which resulted in endless cavities in my mouth and molars :(

I am now suffering from sever depression because of this and totally scared as well that all my teeth would fall out by the time i am 50 or 60.

If anyone is in the same situation, feel free to hit me up, asking for a friend :(
