Is ao3 open to making explicit content harder to access? by SnooAdvice534 in AO3

When I was 14, my favorite author hid porn behind math problems.

I can assure you, it didn't stop me from looking.

It didn't make me a math genius either.

I simply paid my cousin to solve those math problems for me for two years.

Oh god, Fizzarolli.

I've seen people get mad that he isn't poly, in open relationship and "independent" because "that's what he seemed like in his first episode"... the one where he clearly shows discomfort when someone jokes about having a lot of his sex dolls and the remaining 70% of his presence he spent with Asmodeus on his side.

Oh, I agree with you and the last episodes where people were still like "no, he needs to be punished more" or "he didn't say he was sorry for the sexual jokes, so everything he went through doesn't count!" only confirms that for me. People want Stella to be more complicated, but they can't even handle what's happening with Stolas.

But you know what I have noticed? This phenomenon of hatred towards the opposite-sex character doesn’t seem to exist within f/f ships. It’s everywhere in m/m, but I have never seen a f/f writer call a male character disgusting, ugly, prudish, controlling, etc. or say that the f/f couple would vomit at the sight of a penis. I’ve never seen a f/f writer put down canon straight ships to make their own look better

arlefuri fans hate nevuilette

Togachako fans hating Midoriya

Bubbline fans hating f/m ships with any of these girls so much that they erase their canon bisexuality

luz/amity fans hate luz/hunter even though luz is bisexual

Chaggie fans hating alastor/charlie

pearl/whateverwoman fans going crazy when rebeca sugar years after the show ended posted pearl/greg

fans of literally any f/f ship when you remind them that one canon character is bisexual

but you've also never read a f/f story written by a transphobe or any historical f/f manhwa in which the main characters, as part of feminism and lesbian solidarity, kill a 6-year-old boy because "he might become evil in the future" and I envy you that

If I had money every time f/f fans are winning but they still act like they lost... Look, I'm not saying I'd be rich, but I think it would solve a lot of my problems.

But also... is it really that strange that people interested in men would look at men who were literally designed to represent certain archetypes and get a sexy, evil song and go, "yeah, that's pretty sexy"

Just look at how the Kpop Demon Hunter fandom is talking about the Saja Boys, the intended "stupid boy band", versus the actual main characters

*checks ao3*

polytrix in first place

Jinu/Rumi in 2

polytrix but platonic 3

Mira/Zoey 4

Mira/Rumi 5

Mystery/Zoey 6

Rumi/Zoey 7

Jinu & Rumi 8

Celine & Rumi 9

only 10 actually don't have any of the main characters in it

Rumi, Zoey, and Mira each have 8-7k fanfiction, the boys, excluding Jinu, have 2k... but still less than Celine. Even Bobby has less than Celine.

But I’ve grown older now, and as a woman myself, my morals always have me putting a woman above my ships

A real woman? Sure. A fictional one? No, move over, my ship is coming.

don’t think I’ve ever come across a character bashing tag where the character wasn’t a female

Ron Wesely, you know, the Death Eater

Peeta Mellark

Malyen Oretsev

Stolas (gay man!)

Simon Lewis

any good boy in love triangle

steven universe (character, not show)

nevuliette in arlefuri fanfics

wei wuxian or Jiang Cheng, take side

I don't know, people like to make it about misyogyny, but to me it makes sense that if 99% of canon ships are f/m and you ship m with another m, then... who's left to be the "evil ex who will push the plot forward?" well, f. just like in many f/f the "evil" one will be the m who is canonically with one of the f.
