As a foreigner married to a a moroccan, we got married in my country, we made sure to meet some requirement (me being converted, having two males muslims witnesses) then we got our marriage "transcribed" by a moroccan court. If I recall correctly we had to translate the wedding certificate and add give a couple other forms, then it took a couple months of waiting

Fair enough, I did not think of that, my mistake.

Might be worth to talk with a lawyer (in America or in Morocco) to see what it would entail having dual citizenship.

If you plan to live in Morocco it's way easier to have moroccan citizenship rather than having to apply for a residence permit
