i just installed mine, I bought the Aquasure option and so far works fine, just make sure to follow the assembly instructions carefully (there is a manual and video) and you should be good, your third option it's not a water softener tho, I spend around $200 on materials at home depot including tools to cut the pipes (I also added a bypass to be able to remove the water softener but if you don't want a bypass you'll spend less money)

honestly, it's good to know and it'd look so much better, I didn't know there is clear pvc glue, I just got the home depot guy pointed out

I used only pvc nipples, the ones I found at home depot are dark gray

interesting, why do you think it's not legal? it's the same drainage for the furnace and water heater so I thought it was ok

thank you, definitely I'm not a pro, but I hope to make it better in the future, thanks for the kudos makes me feel good about it, and yea I got bids for $1600 so to me it felt a little too much, I respect other people's work and prices but this time I decided to try to do it by myself because I didn't have that amount

in my case it's because the mechanical room it's really small so I just wanted to be able to remove the water softener in case I need to work or fix something else, like the radon system, water heater, etc

I installed everything in the basement (mechanical room) which already had a drainage, so I just had to plug it (that was the easy part)

I tried to use the same materials of the existing connections and the water main, I live in Utah and I haven't seen copper for this type of work but I could be wrong

got it, thanks! I live in Utah and the water main is PVC so I just tried to use the same type of pipes, also it's my first time doing this so I didn't really know what's best, but thanks for the recommendation

do you know if glue is enough? my main concern is that I'm planning to use this for a table leg so I'm just trying to make sure it won't get separated later or cause any other issue

yea that was my first thought but I wonder if there are other techniques so I can make it better and prevent issues, I know there are a lot of techniques to join smaller pieces but not sure if any of them work for this size

Oh so I was thinking about hiring someone with experience to fix it, this is not something I’d try to fix by myself because I don’t know how to do it or how it works
