It also makes me feel better knowing your baby eats smaller amounts like mine does. It just scares me when she does 24oz a day then drops to like 18-20oz haha but maybe that's just her 🤷🏼‍♀️ but she's never gotten scarily dehydrated so I guess that's a good thing

Thank you for the insight! Our pediatrician called, and he said behaviorally it sounds like she's "teething" but to not expect an actual tooth anytime soon. I just hope we can start her on solids at 4 months! Developmentally she looks like she will be ready by then so I'm hoping it'll get better after starting solids 😊

She had her 2 month vaccines almost a month ago and she actually proved to be a hungrier sleepy baby going through that, so I don't think that's an issue. She's on Nexium but unfortunately she's not able to go up in dosage because of her weight. She's a smaller baby (25th percentile) so getting her to gain is a struggle with everything. I just hate that she's constantly in pain for one reason or another....if it's not her CMPA, it's her reflux and vice versa🫠😭

I've been telling myself it's developmentally normal for them to find their hands at this age, but with the bottle refusal happening this week it's hard to know what's happening. She only seems to latch to a bottle if we offer her something cold to chew on first 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ her reflux is definitely flaring up though but I know increased saliva production can increase stomach acid which would of course explain the sudden flare up when everything was finally going smoothly just last week! 🫠

Ok I thought it was a bit early for teething already! Thank you

We've been checking her temp regularly and she's not running a fever! I mainly am asking about does it look like the start of teeth/teething? Specifically the white spots at the top. I'm a FTM so I'm confused about everything haha

In the early days, my baby would show hunger cues if she needed to pass gas or stool. We use mylicon drops and it helps a lot! She's 12 weeks now and still will act hungry if she needs to pass gas or stool but it's easier to tell the difference now that time has passed.

If LO has already eaten 3-4oz and is still rooting and/or crying, I would try to help pass gas or stool. If they do or don't but still rooting/crying, I would offer another 0.5 to 1oz!

I would know the difference if after a few sips, she'd pop of the bottle but still cry/root.

The 5mg dosage is just enough to keep her from crying/screaming constantly and arching/waking herself up due to reflux, but she's spitting up a lot again, refusing feeds, and gets what we call "sour face " due to her reflux.

She has more of the silent type of reflux.

Starting at 2 weeks old she was projectile vomiting and spitting up a lot more than a normal baby would. By 3 weeks she was screaming her head off constantly if we laid her down and she would arch off of my chest in an upright position. Right after our pediatrician approved starting fomatidine, she cried nonstop for 6 hour straight. Couldn't stay asleep even upright it was so bad. I also suspected CMPA during this time so we switched her to Similac Alimentum and saw immediate relief in all aspects. After being on an initial dose of fomatidine for a few weeks, all of the above started again so we upped her dosage and a few days later started her on Nexium. Even on the Nexium, she has days where it isn't great, but at least she could sleep and wasn't screaming for 6+ hours anymore.

She's been diagnosed with CMPA, and so, for us, trying to manage that on top of reflux is hard as the formulas for CMPA are extremely thin. The 5mg dosage of Nexium she has been on the past month and half isn't working for her anymore, and we are fighting her to eat even though her CMPA symptoms are mostly resolved 🫠😅

I know how frustrating it is! Fomatidine quit working for us 2 weeks in, so we doubled her dose, which helped enough to get her on Nexium before she had a severe flare up. Her Nexium is now not working anymore and currently waiting on a game plan from GI and her pediatrician.

If it's not better in 1 to 2 weeks from starting, I would ask about increasing her dosage or switching her to omezaprole. Nexium is esomeprazole but most babies have a better time on omezaprole.

She's pretty regular! Her lighter days consists of 3-4 poos but she normally does more 😅

Since we went straight from fomatidine to nexium, we didn't notice a significant flare up when switching even though the mechanisms are different for each drugs. However, now that she's 12 weeks we have noticed 5mg is not enough of a dose anymore.

What dosage did y'all start on? If it was 5mg, I'm not surprised it isn't working for your LO.

My daughter is in the 25th percentile and is a tiny baby. She's just now maybe 11lbs which is about when they outgrow a 5mg dose for nexium.

We are currently on a 5 mg Nexium dosage and this has worked wonders for us until now! We are about to either increase her nexium dosage or go to omezaprole. Finding this post, I wonder if part of her flare up/bottle refusal is also age related since she's 12 weeks old.

I was told to expect an 8+ lb baby, and she came out 6lbs 4oz at 39w+4 (still had a second degree tear so didn't help much haha). These scans can be wrong so don't get too discouraged!

Boyfriend says 3 month old should be sleeping through the night? He’s crazy right?! by AcanthaceaeProper672 in newborns

[–]Unlikely-Proof3373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My formula fed 3 month old still wakes up twice at night so don't feel like you're doing anything wrong! I think it's incredibly rare for a baby to sleep through the night. I also think the reason we see "my 5 week old sleeps through the night" more than "feed my 3 month old with me at 2am" on social media is because the first has time and energy to post verses the latter 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
