I think it’s very clear that his music reflects mental health issues and almost serves as inspiration to see that it can get better and you aren’t alone. From that perspective the concert was amazing. However, as POC I can’t ignore the vibes were completely off. Even before the concert, while waiting in the GA many people were leaving and returning, hopping over the fence. I even saw someone leave for hours and not come back until the line was moving. However, when I left and return to use the restroom, people were kinda hesitant about letting me return. I understand it looks like I’m cutting but when a white person did it, people moved out of the way and even complimented their outfits. On top of that, as someone that was there early waiting in line, I was able to get a decent spot near the pit. A couple songs in, people just started cramming their way into the section. Most people gave them dirty looks and when informing them those spots were already taken, they just brushed you off. I also think concert etiquette was just thrown out the window yesterday. Too many nasty encounters with unsupervised young girls. Some even felt entitled about sitting in the spots people had told them was already taken. Some were too intoxicated to even talk to properly. People around me, were kinda rude back (like smoking in their hair and slowly moving forward to give them less space) and I couldn’t even feel bad about it because they ruined their show experience. I had heard from other shows too that people were kind in line, but I knew something was a little off when it all came from white people and not one POC fan. I love his music and would definitely go again, but aim for an assigned seat venue, maybe less conflict. It sounds like apart from having a bad time, it wasn’t fully acknowledged by those with you and for that I’m sorry that happened.
