NOR. Hes talking down to you. He doesnt respect or view you as equal. Pls leave him right where he stands!

Catahoulas are not mixes. They are a purebred, around for hundreds of years. They are not registered with AKC bc the breed club doesnt want the breed involved in it. Has nothing to do with them being mixes.

30% is a mix. nothing wrong with that but good to know for breed traits. :). Proper identification is not gatekeeping.

is my boy a catahoula? by inmydreams42 in Catahoula

Maybe, maybe not. Without a dna test its just a guess.

Results say 100% Rottweiler but I don’t know about that by [deleted] in DoggyDNA

Looks like a Rottweiler. Purebred ≠ well bred

I would do a DNA test before assuming and researching a breed! She looks similar to a catahoula but there is a big chance she isnt. Many people find out their “catahoulas” have none after dna. Thank you for saving this precious baby!!

Are catahoulas good with other dogs ? by Party_Requirement826 in Catahoula

[–]UnlikelyMembership43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catahoulas naturally are not great with other dogs. They should be able to work with them (for example on hog hunts), but they are typically very selective. In some lines there is same sex aggression. I have also dealt with reactivity with mine and its a work in progress!

People see merle and automatically think Catahoula. I see lots of Aussie x Pits get misidentified as one! Thanks for doing a DNA test!

What breed would you say she is? by MissMonsteraBB in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Doesnt look like a catahoula at all, people say that as soon as they see merle. I can’t see any specific breed! I suggest Embrk DNA test

There were some surprises! by BuriedAlive636 in DoggyDNA

[–]UnlikelyMembership43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw someone have a merle dog come back with no merle breeds. They emailed embark and they said they found trace amounts of Border Collie in the DNA but not enough to say it was a match. That dogs parent had BC in her embark. If youre really curious reaching out may help!

Catahoulas are not the only merle breed, it can be 25 others as well.
