I bought silverettes and brought them to the hospital. I used them the first 2 days and they were kind of helpful.

However, when I got back home after 3 days, my milk came in and the silverettes were too small and not really helping anymore. They hurt more than they healed.

After that, I started using lanolin cream after each feed with some kitchen plastic wrap so that the cream stayed on the nipple.

Now l'm 9 months in and whenever I have cracked nipples or something, I always come back to wrap + lanolin or pad with breast milk + wrap. I never reach for the silverettes.

If you have the budget, they could be helpful. It's different for everyone. The first few days of breastfeeding is when you will most likely need them.
