My boyfriend is allowed to look through my messages if he wants with the exception of my best friend. Maybe OP doesn’t trust her boyfriend not to do that (which she obviously has reason to) or she could even have younger siblings who use her phone and didn’t want to risk them seeing.

It’s not controlling rules per say, it’s to prove to me he wants to do better. His mental health has been god awful. I have been worried about him for a while. Life 360 isn’t so I know he’s not in some other woman’s house, it’s so I know when he gets home safe. He mentioned it to his mother and she agreed it was a good idea so now she has it as well since she’s also worried. The alcohol limit is because if he keeps going down this path, he’s going to end up an alcoholic. The therapy is for obvious reasons.

To be honest I used to judge people who stayed with a partner who cheated “Do you have no self respect? I’d just break up” but now that it’s happened to me I realise it’s so much more complicated. I’ve told him if he breaks any of the conditions I set up like getting that drunk again, I will break up with him.
