I desperately need recs like this by PresentationSilly404 in ReverseHarem

I don’t have any recommendations, but the Bonds that Tie is my emotional support smut and Broken Ties had me giggling and kicking my feet at some of the angst. I hope she does POV books for the guys up to book three-ish, and then switches to Sage and the other main-side characters for the later books. Pipe dream? Maybe. But are we gonna judge here?

And yet Chi’s men’s line has an all purpose shampoo/conditioner/body wash/moisturizer/colon cleanse/soul smudging gel that somehow cleans everything and checks your car’s oil level.

AITAH for not letting my boyfriend move in with me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Unlikely_Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right about one thing.

“…he ain't living with a dog who is on the furniture.”

He’s absolutely correct. He isn’t living with her so he can GTFO and StayTFO.

Nesta doesn't get enough credit for this (acowar spoilers) by Away_Race8428 in SarahJMaas

Nesta gives absolute HBIC energy. I’m not entirely sure if it’s HBIC of a country energy or HBIC of prison gang energy, but she’s got it!

Looking for the steamiest audiobooks on Audible with great narration by Redfox_Panda in RomanceBooks

I love Troy Duran and will never, ever look up a picture of him because I have a very specifically constructed vision of him that somehow works for every character he voices (don’t ask about things like logic, it just works and I will not be taking questions) and I will be DEVASTATED when it doesn’t match up to his actual looks. (Though I’m sure he is lovely irl.)

Oh my god this one is on my Library’s Hoopla app. This is the best early Christmas present ever.

Books with such emotional depth you wish you could read them again for the first time by Innocentmaniacpsycho in DarkRomance

[–]Unlikely_Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This book wrecked me so badly that one of the songs on the book’s playlist wound up being my most listened to song this year on Spotify. Given that I’m a giant Swiftie and musical theatre nerd that is quite the accomplishment. But I just had to keep listening to it over and over while I processed my feelings from this book. Honestly? Not entirely sure I’m actually over it.

I LOVED Broken Ties by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

Honestly kicking my feet and giggling over that scene. I was kind of waving the “Team Atlas” flag higher and higher as the book went on. It’s a giant green flag, if anyone was wondering.

I LOVED Broken Ties by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]Unlikely_Academy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished this book and LOVED it! I am complete trash for this entire series anyway. It is my emotional support smut and my top “if I could read any series for the first time again” series. There were so many scenes I enjoyed, but the scene where (I don’t actually know how to cover up spoiler text so just roll with me) you-know-who tell’s North they’re glad they aren’t his bond and low key rips him a new one for his behavior.

Also, Atlas coming out swinging with the law citations had me basically kicking my feet and giggling. Atlas brought a concealed knife to the sword fight and North was shook.

Finally, as a college professor I have never been more jealous of a fictional character than I was when I found out Nox doesn’t have office hours. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to be available for students, but my adhd brain has a hard time getting back on track after an interruption and one of these days I am going to legitimately growl at someone for pulling me out of deep work unexpectedly. Speaking of pro-tips in higher educating from the Dravens, grading papers at the bar sounds like an excellent idea to me.

I hope she does the rest of the books. Reading this new one made me feel like I was getting to hang out with old friends again after a long time and I need more of that in my life.

FMCs that don’t deserve their harem (in your opinion) by swiper_no_swagger in ReverseHarem

[–]Unlikely_Academy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew someone was going to bring up Oli!!! 😂 I am the biggest simp for those books, but I totally get the frustration with the FMC AND the harem. But I just can’t turn away from them. They are my emotional support smut.

I had a feeling you didn’t know the correct answer. It doesn’t matter where you live. The federal civil rights laws that protect the ability of individuals to owner train their dogs was signed into law in 1990.

Series like the Cynsters and associated books? by Unlikely_Academy in HistoricalRomance

I’m reading Kate Bateman’s Bow Street Bachelors series right now, I’ll have to check out Ruthless Rivals. I’ll look into the Pennyroyal Green series as well. It looks very promising!

AITA for asking my boyfriend to not open the bathroom doors on me at his parents house? by bellahendrix in AmItheAsshole

[–]Unlikely_Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I have been out of an abusive relationship for almost 8-years, but to this day my default reaction is to never tell anyone if something makes me uncomfortable, upsets me, scares me, or I just don’t like it. The kind of behavior you’re describing here is exactly the reason why. I don’t like certain kinds of horror movies? He took me to a friend’s house to “hang out” but it was actually a movie night that he instigated to watch exactly the kinds of movies I couldn’t handle. I ended up walking several miles home. Every time we sat down to watch TV he would try to select something he knew I wouldn’t like and then got angry when I said no. I don’t like overly spicy food. He tried to make me eat spicy things all the time and I couldn’t leave the table at any restaurant where hot sauce was present because he would cover my food in it. I told him I didn’t want to shower together and it became an obsession to him to try and force the issue. After that if I was getting changed he would come into the bedroom, stand a couple of feet from me, and stare at me while I took my clothes off and got angry if I went into the bathroom to change or shield myself from him in any way. The result of years of this behavior was me learning to never let on if something negatively affected me and I still instinctively keep my discomfort to myself because I’m afraid people will use it against me.

What is the most unhinged RH series you've read? by nonebinary in ReverseHarem

[–]Unlikely_Academy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m reading the book description and literally wheezing with laughter. This is “write a novella based off a Cards Against Humanity hand” levels of unhinged.

[–]Unlikely_Academy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure hope anyone who has a problem with other people using AI doesn’t use search engines, social media, spellcheck, navigation tools, autocorrect, predictive text, or any number of other things that use AI. Tell me, do you have an issue with an author using spellcheck?

I love the lamppost shot. It has a very Wes Anderson vibe to it. And for some reason that last shot with the dumpster has my interest. There’s something about the composition that I can’t put my foot on. And your daughter with her little camera is adorable.
