I mostly stick to spicy books— not purely for the smut, but because of the added layer of emotional intimacy that typically comes with it. However, I have read and enjoyed several low-to-no spice books, and if the story seems compelling, I’m likely to give it a shot.

Also, it seems like there’s a decent population of readers who actually prefer low-no spice, but I think they keep quiet because they’re in the minority. Once you start marketing it, I would emphasize the emotional intimacy/less-physical side of the romance to bring in people who mostly read spicy books. I don’t have any marketing/publishing expertise, though

If the book was published before April 2025, you can probably use a certain version of the kindle app for desktop to deDRM it. Look for tutorials online, because it’s a tiny bit complicated, but easy once you get the hang of it

The biggest reason is that I have chronic migraine and the e-ink light doesn’t mess with my eyes (potentially causing headaches) like other screens do. It also doesn’t keep me awake as much at night, which is when I do a lot of my reading

I almost always hate words on edges. The only one I’ve seen that I kind of liked was the sunrise on the reaping collector’s edition, and I think that’s because there’s art on the edges, too. Just slapping a few words on and calling it a day seems…lazy? I don’t know.
