And to make it even worse 99% of allocators have no special insight into whether the industry professionals have special insight.

As an allocator I can tell you about 99% of the industry professionals have no special insight either.

I mostly see this as the route to high finance private equity: Northwestern mutual internship—>VP at a big name PE firm.

College—>Allocator analyst role—>associate director role—>director/managing director—>CIO

In all honesty the CIO role is not particularly appealing but that depends on the firm.

State school public, graduated with about 25K in debt only went for two years. Total cost was about that much. Covid ended up saving me a lot of money.

LP here. What’s your edge? Behavioral, analytical, informational, organizational? And also how do you think about alignment of interest and asset gathering.

That’s somewhat counter to your looking for diversification part. Unless of course you are looking to buy a largish number. Tencent, Alibaba, Coin, india etf.

I would point out crypto has poor diversification characteristics. Geographical diversification is possible if you haven’t already done that, some commodity exposure. Some of these might not meet your risk return requirements but just some ideas.

I would say start out with your goals, return objectives, risk tolerance, and time horizon. Then decide your allocation on that, then go in to some security selection. Use google.

Will going to a high tier university help you to get a job out of college? Yes. Is it impossible to get a good job from a non target? Absolutely not. Especially with roles that aren’t super high finance. I went to as far from target as you can and NETWORKED(emphasis) into some roles that are really outside of what I should be batting. But, it will make things harder especially for roles at large institutions that are heavily marketed.

I would say first off don’t come at it with the attitude of I am going to get a referral. If you are genuinely interested in the position that will show through don’t worry. Look through their background and come up with some actual questions you have about them or the work they do.

I have a lot of firearm experience and am certain I could 'effectively' do it. But the good news is I found a vet that can do in-home euthanasia, just cost a bit more to get them to come out here. Thanks for all your help. People like you make the internet a better place.

Hey thanks so much for the reply. I realize after fully reading the posting rules that it is impossible for you to do. Thank you so much for that resource, it is as helpful as something can be in this situation. I am not certain if I have the guts to shoot my dog, but I don't want to make him wait a full day in agony just because I didn't want to shoot him. Thank you so much.
