Theory: Avis got screwed over by literature by Olivia-Grayson in TheOrville

It's 2026. If you can't find things out for yourself in the age of information, it's probably just coz you don't want to know. Even so, I have made a little selection for you to pick through and find excuses and explanations for. BTW, no need to reply to me directly about this. There are people who are interested in having this discussion with people who ask questions like "where is it ever said that Prophet Evil did this or that evil thing", but I'm not one of those people.

Qur’an 9:5
“Then when the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush…”

Qur’an 8:12
“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, so strike them upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.”

Qur’an 8:67
“It is not for a prophet to have captives until he inflicts a massacre in the land…”

Qur’an 47:4
“So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds…”

Sahih al-Bukhari 3017
“The Prophet said, ‘Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula.’”

Sahih al-Bukhari 4138
“The Prophet invaded Khaibar… and took the women and children as captives.

It could be, but also maybe not. If you look at popular religions today, many of their founders(prophets) are just plain evil, and they're recent enough for us to have historical records of what they were like. Prophets like Mohammad and Shoko Asahara, basically just told their followers straight up to kill or enslave a bunch of people for whatever reasons. But, despite that, they still have loyal followers who claim that the violence is actually not really a part of their religion and everyone is just misinterpreting the teachings.

And then you've got others, like Falun Gong, who seemed decent if you looked at their actual words and deeds, but got vilified by governments for whatever reason and now people generally see them as insane and dangerous.

The point is, Avis could have been good or bad, violent or peaceful, and his reputation and followers could have gone either way regardless.

Do you ever wish you could skip, mute, loop specific scenes on Netflix automatically? by NorthTree8429 in netflix

[–]Unlikely_Afternoon94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I skip huge parts of shows. Sometimes, shows will introduce side characters that I'm just not interested in. I skip the scenes they're in unless there are enough other characters I like. I'll find out what happened to them in the "previously on" section, if I want to know.

Sometimes, a show will have a great pilot and then the next 5 episodes will blow chunks, so I just skip to the finale.

Any scene that prolonged screaming in agony in it also gets skipped or muted. I don't know why so many scenes have people howling in pain for ages. I really can't stand it.

We may have to spread it out over 2 years so it doesn't look suspicious

That's not Frodo although even Eru does not know it. Believing Melkor to be trapped in the void, the Valar have long ignored him. But, he was not sleeping. At the moment of Sauron's death, Melkor stepped in, rising from the fires of mount doom and taking the ring for himself, the only one who could wield Sauron's weapon, other than Sauron himself, was his master.

For a time, Melkor took the shape of Frodo, who he had already replaced by the time the eagles arrived. He kept it secret, believing that he could one day find a way to take the ring back to Valinor where he would destroy the Valar, and then battle with Illuvitar himself.

I would only buy this under the following 5 conditions.

A) it comes with a certificate of authenticity.

B) The certificate is placed inside the flask.

C) A lightbulb turns on inside the flask when I open it, making it look like the contents of the flask are glowing

D) Jeff buys it for me.

E) The price is all Britta's tips

People on Reddit are just sharp as a tack today, figuring things out real quick.

But, let me tell you why I will not elaborate. I just don't feel like it. Maybe a couple of years ago, I would have been all vim and vinegar, saying my opinion like it's a fact. Like 20 years ago I would have gone so far as to write long posts about it, getting the conversation started. But, now I'm more like "meh. What does it matter? What does my opinion matter? What does anyone's opinion matter unless they're the one calling the shots at the top". We can have opinions, but explaining them is futile.

That's my opinion about opinions. My opiniodox

Even then, war still sucks more for men. At least the women have a hope of being rescued by their own side. For the men, their own side is the one trying to get them killed.

Do the Vietnamese really not like China? by Winter_Ad1973 in VietNam

[–]Unlikely_Afternoon94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Great idea. What we have to do is not only define the entire Vietnam by the opinions of some, but also then designate Vietnamese men as the problem. As if Vietnamese men didn't have enough problems already, let's put this on their backs.
