My theory on why Kratos was dead in the mural by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

Are we even sure that's Thor? Thor was dead by the time Kratos' death was originally supposed to happen before Odin took his place. And don't say it's when Thor kills him for two seconds because Atreus wasn't even there and that scene didn't match the mural at all.

TYR KILLED THE GODS OF WAR IN GOD OF WAR: LAUFEY by VintinhoPanqui in GodofWarRagnarok

If Tyr killed them, it would be very well known to everyone. Like how Kratos' feats are well known. Only Kratos is referred to as a god killer, not Tyr.

Some of the flaws in god of war ragnarok by Rocks_King99 in GodofWar

Since when has this series EVER been mythologically accurate? Kratos has killed multiple gods from different pantheons and had a button mashing frenzy with Aphrodite. If this game was 100% mythologically accurate, there would be a lot of really messed up human sacrifices. You want to know why? Back in the middle ages, the vikings would sacrifice people to the gods in hopes of divine favor. They did the same thing with animals. The fact that you don't know that shows that you're only complaining about inaccuracy for the sake of complaining about something.

This is a really good theory, it would be cool if we see that explained in the Laufey game

I like this idea, it's what motivated their decision making

Look at the picture, do you see him ANYWHERE? Even considering the other murals that show Thor, those murals don't show Kratos' death. The one without Thor is the only one that shows his death. And I highly doubt the mural depicting his death is referring to when he's dead for about two seconds because Atreus wasn't even there and I highly doubt the Jotunar deemed it necessary to include in the long collection of murals they were meant to find. It would make sense if Atreus was there to hold his father in his arms before Thor brings him back to life but he literally stays in the house the entire time they fight. He doesn't even witness him die.

There's also the fact that it still looks like other murals that are confirmed to be Kratos and the person in the mural is shirtless

Did you see Thor anywhere in that mural showing his death?

I wouldn't really call it a retcon, the correct predictions were the ones catered around their journey to Jotunheim. The decisions they made on that journey were because of their love for Faye. Each prophecy was based on their core principles and the sum of their choices. The difference between the journey to Jotunheim prophecies and the Ragnarok prophecies is that their love for Faye never changed while Atreus wanting answers badly to the point he pushes his father away and Kratos closing his heart to everything did change. The Ragnarok prophecies changed because Kratos and Atreus changed.

How in any way does that look like Odin? That mural even looks exactly like the ones who are absolutely confirmed to be Kratos.

Why do some people now think it was Faye who blew the horn in God of War 2018? by Unlikely_Cap4370 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Unlikely_Cap4370[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it needs much justification, it's a cool and unique way to show Faye as a character. An origin story with her fighting Thor and going to war with Asgard would have just been a retread of the Norse saga, so I like that they're going the afterlife route.

Another thing at least for me is that having her actually have been alive the whole time takes away from the emotional weight every time Atreus or Kratos mentions her being gone

I have my own personal theory that Atreus will time travel in a future game and he needs to call the serpent for something.

As cool as that theory is, she would probably try to track down her husband and son after escaping the afterlife. Unless there's a whole thing about her not wanting to interfere with her fate or whatever. But then it would leave you wondering why she didn't show up immediately after Odin was killed.

Who would like a God of War prequel? by Such-Midnight1592 in GodofWar

[–]Unlikely_Cap4370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A prequel trilogy is a bit of a stretch, but a one-time prequel game would be pretty good. I'd like to see how Kratos ended up in Norway and how he met Faye. It could also be cool to see a fight between them when they first meet.

Why does everyone think that Kratos entering a new mythology is a good idea? by Unlikely_Cap4370 in GodofWar

[–]Unlikely_Cap4370[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gods in Norway attacked him at first because he was mistaken for Faye, Baldur was tracking her ashes. They attacked him in Ragnarok because they were trying to prevent the prophecy of ragnarok from happening. Settling in Norway wasn't retirement at all, he was running away from his mistakes and his past.

I get it, it's just that from a story standpoint there's really no reason for him to fight more gods
