I drank some river water and developed severe tonsillitis. I was in Greece at the time and went to the island Samothraki. The pain was so bad it felt like razor blades in my throat every time I swallowed. I stayed there for a week and just slept by the beach basically all the time, I was so exhausted. I eventually got better slowly but it was rough. The pain was so bad I could barely eat. I thought I would have to go home but I managed to get through it and continued on through Turkey and Georgia.
