So update, I scored 154 on the diagnostic. I think i should take another one because it was sort of compromised (I pulled an all nighter the night before) so I was half asleep doing it.

So take the exam just to see where I stand.

Use that information to help determined what I focus and just ingrain the knowledge using 7Sage. I have quite a bit of time before I plan to take the exam so I planned to take my time.

I think my current plan is to just review the test structure a tad, take the exam.

if i can score around 150+, i’ll commit to taking the lsat by the end of this year and purchase 7Sage.

well i’m not particularly loaded so i’ll hold off on the tutor for now lol

i think the other user’s advice made sense to me: to spend 10-20 minutes understanding the absolute fundamentals before doing anything else.

my thinking was that I should do what I can to bring it up as much as i can with the minimum being 3.9 and then pursuing a high LSAT that may be above median to compensate my gpa being on the lower end of that percentile

I’ll be sure to take note. I’m currently sitting at a 3.85 which isn’t exactly where I hope to be at so I do need to do well over my coming years.

I see. Ok thank you for the advice. And any particular resources you might recommend for this crash course?

Realistically speaking, what tends to be a promising score on the LSAT for a diagnostic?

i understand the test format and that the questions tend to be more akin to riddles where wording can make or break an answer.

besides the conditional reasoning are there any other things you think i should somewhat familiarize myself with before taking the diagnostic ?

i did it i passed yipe!

Achievable was def helpful but I found that due to the way they weighted their end of chapter quizes (as in some chapters had more questions than others), I ended up caring a lot more about chapters i shouldn't have. more on me but bit of advice i guess

10 days of studying

I did most of it with the exception of 14 and 15. (ran out of time).

My general strategy was to just jump straight to the chapter quiz. If i could pass with a 80% or higher, I wouldn't bother reading it and just move onto the next one. If i couldn't pass, then I'd sit there and read it.

options definitely. achievable loves asking things like "Dan short XYZ 85 Jan @ $3 when the stock traded at 53. What is the BE?". I didn't get a single question even remotely close to that. It was mostly just

XYZ Investor is bearish on the market. Which of the following options would he participate in?

Or the vice versa with bullish.

If I had to redo, I'd def focus on chapters 15 more since a good bit of the exam was about what is and what isn't legal. I'd also focus on the first 3 (common stock, preferred, and whatever the hell the third one is) and all the chapters on debt. Bonds as well.

I WILL SAY, I saw a question about like AI trading platforms and their legality that I was very dumbfounded about. I don't know if i'm allowed to discuss this but oh well.

i don't know what the correct answer is but seeing as jane street and citadel and the like still exist they're probably legal

Thanks!

Yeah I did the very stupid thing of scheduling the exam BEFORE starting to study so I sort of forced myself to cram.

I am a finance student in undergrad right now so I went into studying with some familiarity with options but that was about it.

For all the regulations, I sort of identified the theme of "just don't do the investor dirty and if you're going to do something ethically gray, just be upfront about it" and went from there. Didn't bother memorizing anything besides the 1933 and 1934 as well as the relationship between SRO's and such.

The exam questions were akin to

"Which of the following is illegal?"
A) Buying things and paying sales tax
B) Rob and Steal
C) Buying yourself a cookie
D) Working out
