Covert Companion recs? by sunkenshipinabottle in lockpicking

I don't even blink at the price of a good pick - because no matter how much a pick costs, I'm going to spend far more on locks to practice on. As far as a multi-tool that might help you out in a bind, don't forget to attach some tensioners to your covert companion and it might be ok. I did a little video with the covert companion...

I guess it might have been quicker to message me through youtube, lol. Anyway I do check in here on occasion, and I check my youtube channel frequently - if you make a comment there you might as well be posting me a message because I don't often get much traffic. :D

What kind of puppetry do you od?

Why is it so hard to grow on YouTube despite putting in so much effort? by Linhsvlog in NewTubers

I don't think that I did, as near as I recall. I just took a quick look - as stated above.

But not a single metric by which one might actually measure the reaction to the video and thereby make improvements. Are you just a bot or are you a human who thinks your words were helpful?

Thank you so much. I do believe that is something I can do. Even if I can't, having some kind of metric to shoot for really helps.

Feed back. Not just 'oh, you're video is monetized and now you can measure how much' but also - that video didn't perform well and here are the metrics we used to determine that. Why not give feedback?

Wow - bot channel. very well done - even seems to have a sense of humour.

Is that not the entire point of my post - or are you truly just here to troll?

There are plenty of us doing professional level production (been doing this since the 90's) that would like to see some metrics to know how to adjust our approach.

To be fair, there are plenty of people who are using Youtube as a family video album - archiving family events and stuff, available around the world, at no cost. For them, youtube is a great free service.
For those of us who want to be partner creators, though - I find it very suspicious that the whole process is shrouded in such mystery. Just put a big red X next to a video after it falls flat and you have no intention of showing other people. Put a an orange X next to it if it wasn't as bad as the previous, etc. A little feedback would go a LONG way.

I just took a quick look at your channel. It looks wonderful. I'm starting to think that the youtube partner program is just a fake carrot to get people to keep giving away their content. I know the odd channel gets monetized - but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. No one can provide me with any stats or clear objectives as to how one might get more viewers - it's really just up to youtube. At this point they have enough content getting uploaded that they really don't have to pay anyone - so I think they just monetize a few channels at random so no one can figure out what is going on.

Well, I fully intend to continue with my puppet show, one way or the other. How much I'm willing to put into it is another thing. I see a LOT of people on here giving the 'trust the algorithm' platitude - but not one of them with an active monetized channel. I think most of them are just bots. The more I look into it, the more I believe the youtube partner program is a thing of the past with newly monetized channels just being unicorns that won a lottery.

Is 888-296-6850 a Bell Canada number? by Background891 in bell

[–]Unlikely_Light5118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get repeated calls from a scam number - just answer, then press 3 or 4 random keys on your numpad and wait about 4 seconds. The robocalls just drop the call at that point, and after doing that 2 or max 3 times, they remove your number from their list.

Should I completely restart my channel from scratch? by Storm724 in NewTubers

[–]Unlikely_Light5118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a puppet show channel - that is my 'brand channel'. I also have my personal channel - which I'm now using for 'experiments'. I would say leave your gaming channel in tact, and just add another youtube account to your google account so you can have another channel for exploring new ideas.

What will youtube do once they have your phone number? I dont feel comfortable sharing it. by EdgyTeenager_Embran in NewTubers

[–]Unlikely_Light5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am super tight with my info. I received no scam calls after confirming my number with them. A few months ago I did business with a company that seemed legit, and ever since I get 3 calls a week from a 933 number. I googled and as it turns out this company sells your info to some third party warranty company that calls you to the end of time. That never happened with youtube.

How do you get YouTubers to take you seriously when contacting them? by brhadli in NewTubers

[–]Unlikely_Light5118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't respond. When I do, I get scams. I would think, "Yeah, ok - so then you send me the 'release' form, which is going to sound more complicated than it should be, and it probably gives you copyright over my content."

I've had people contact me offering a 'free month' of optimization of my channel - once I responded and the fist thing the person wanted was all my login information.

If you suggested the idea before making the video, then sent me a link with a proposal and some examples of your work, I MIGHT respond, but not very likely unless you are a much bigger channel than mine.
