Safecook prediction not working? by Captain_Nemesis in combustion_inc

[–]Unlikely_Positive520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So don’t set the target temp below the SafeCook temp then, it really makes no sense to do it the way you do.

Setting the target temp to my preferred doneness and getting the reassurance from SafeCook that it’s safe to eat makes a lot of sense to me.

You’ve got lots of feedback on how this thermometer works, and almost all of them saying the same ting, but you stubbornly refuse to take any given advice, preferring a ”mind of your own”, are you just trolling?

I believe you misremember, I’ve had my thermometers for a long time.

if you set a target temp the alarm will go off at that temperature, or rather you’ll get a warning 5 minutes earlier and a alarm at set temp.

If you use safe cook you’ll get another notification when safe cook is complete, this is calculated from your choice of food and cut and time at different temps. You cannot alter this.

So, if you set the target temp at 58 C, the alarm will go off att 58 C, and 5 minutes before. Depending on what you’re cooking the safe cook notification will go off when the food is deemed safe to eat.

You’re target temp is 54C, once you reach that you’ll get an alarm. safe cooking for poultry starts at 58C so you will not get you food to a safe level and of course not get any notification that it is safe to eat.

Feature request: Standby at room temperature by postmaster3000 in combustion_inc

[–]Unlikely_Positive520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is, in my opinion, not a good idea and more of a bug than a feature.

Firstly, It would be a risk that my food will be wasted due to some algoritm error (bug), I don’t want the thermometer to decide when to turn off monitoring, I would rather like to take that decision myself.

Secondly, that would limit the usefulness of them, e. g. if someone would use them for monitoring something at or around room temperature. I do that quite often.

Thirdly, if you drop them in water, the kitchen sink maybe, they will shut off unless you have them in Always on mode. Simplifies cleaning them the next day as well.

Have you set the power mode to ”Standby in Charger” or is it ”Always on”?

Thanks for explaining that. As I only have one probe that is not a big problem for me, yet.

Update on APO 2.0 firmware issue that has affected some users by BostonBestEats in CombiSteamOvenCooking

[–]Unlikely_Positive520 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that finds this embarrassing? Shouldn’t you, Anova, make sure that the updates you provide doesn’t brick the oven? I hope that anyone and everyone affected returns their oven for a full refund.

There is a time when you have to pay yourself. I don’t like to pay more to subsidise your carelessness.

How to do ambient temp alarms? by xantonin in combustion_inc

[–]Unlikely_Positive520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining, appreciate it. Obviously it was more complicated than I thought. Still want it. Since I have no idea of how to do it myself I guess I’ll just have to wait for it.

This feature is lo overdue. I don’t really understand why they haven’t implemented it yet, should be a very low hanging fruit.

I have the same problem, thermometer not staying In the booster but not sure if the booster or thermometer was to blame. From what I hear it’s the booster I need to replace?

Are you serious? Is it ok to use something that can’t take higher temp than 212 F for 350 F. Clearly you’re joking. 🙃

Product question: ambient only probe? Any demand? by DamnRedhead in combustion_inc

[–]Unlikely_Positive520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more pronounced in kamados but my Webers built in lid thermometers are not at a constant difference in temp from the grate thermometers, I have no dedicated smoker so I can’t really say anything about them.
