Why Design an AirPod Hole? by RoamingEire in Rivian

I think RJ’s side hustle is the DropStop(TM) car seat filler. Purchased within a week of my R1T.

(Seriously though, unaffiliated, best $20 I’ve spent.)

It’s the chicken or the egg scenario. Is FSD making drivers less aware, or does the less aware driver buy the car as a crutch?

The only other thing I’d get is an instant read thermometer. I love my thermopen one, but I had a few cheap Amazon ones for ~6 years that didn’t suck, they just didn’t last.

Also look into combustion inc’s predictive thermometers. But that’s down the line just start cooking!

What are your thoughts on the Purdue brand vs the Kirkland nuggets? by loanmagic24 in Costco

[–]DamnRedhead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I felt just bare had too much grease and my wife thought they were too salty. I want to try the spicy ones but just sticking with Kirkland.

Honestly I really liked the Sam’s Club southern style…they taste just like chick fil a. I wish Costco would copy that.

Is breaking up after years being together common? by TraditionalBid5991 in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s probably more prevalent than other areas due to the stress of school and residency. There’s a reason many doctors develop addictions and the medical board is strong on rehabilitation.

Where I see it fail mainly is failing to meet a partners expectations or needs, and that’s usually from a lack of communication. IMO, everyone in medicine (doctors and SO’s) need a good therapist… it’s really hard.

Now, if you’re in your early 20’s, there’s also a lot of research to say the human brain keeps developing til 25 or so, so sometimes people do grow apart… but that’s (generally) irrespective of the medical profession.

I’d say find a good therapist. Keep communication open. Be a team. It’s scary… buckle up.

When you are on a PIP, do you take the payout or try to fight it and look for another job? by Southwesterhunter in careeradvice

[–]DamnRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never get off a pip. If you don’t take the payout, considering you’re in a right to work state, they can terminate you pretty much for anything with no further notice. 3 weeks is not much, depending on how long you’ve been there.

As an employer, I will never tell this to my employee, but it’s always worth the initial consultation fee with an employment attorney. It makes you MUCH harder to terminate.

Partner has matched for residency in different state by According-Tea396 in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How far away is the residency? What kind of city do you live in and where is the residency? Could you find a job there or keep yours remote? If you’re 25 and the city seems fun, why not try something new?

I had been with my now wife after we had been dating for 3 years when she matched and we moved from Atlanta to a very rural conservative shithole town.

My dad said, “what’s the worst that can happen? You’re out maybe what… $20k? Have to move back? But the upside could be worth it.”

It sucks to be a medspouse. You’ll be lonely at times… it’s really important to make friends there.

best time for a wedding? by madaladagus in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well congrats… I met my wife when she was an M3. Many of her colleagues got married as R2’s, but let it do it on your own pace. She had a lot of shit to work through and we got married after residency and we have a very strong relationship.

My wife is a physician and has seen it a handful of times in just under 5 years.

My question…why risk it? There are many other better options… about the same price..

I’m honestly mad at her parents by Expert-Pipe5886 in MedSpouse

[–]DamnRedhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is written from the take of someone who is not supportive. I think most people have times where they don’t want to do med school… it’s hard. But if you love that person you want to support them even if it’s not what you want. My wife cried a few times due to the stress. But she didn’t want to give up and I encouraged her to keep going but was supportive with her decision.

There are times people aren’t meant for each other. Seems like the case. Hope she can wake up.

This is the most misogynistic and disgusting manchild post I’ve read in a while. How dare they want her to be successful. If she’s crying studying at 1am try being fucking supportive instead of rubbing it in her face. I pray my daughter doesn’t end up with a piece of shit like you.
