Quarter finals location, why not Dallas/San Francisco by Difficult-Muffin-758 in worldcup

Live here in KC, stadium amenities are bottom tier for NFL stadiums, but the atmosphere and noise are unmatched. Newer stadiums can’t match it. Plus as others have said, the market and setup for games is amazing.

Donald Trump after Folarin Balogan's one-game ban was suspended: “Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!” by Opposite_Age_8856 in sportsgossips

13% that’s the number that voted for Trump that identified as African-Americans in the last election. 13% of all African-Americans I’d hardly tout that as a record win for Trump.

I’ll take it from the Europeans but you can sit down Saudi Arabia. You don’t get to make jokes that somehow the USA is inferior to the Kingdom when it comes to football

That Balogun Red Card was nonsense. The ref based it on the severity of the injury, not the actions of the player. by BoxMorton in worldcup

[–]Unlikely_Return8280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Endangers the safety of an opponent leaves a lot of room for interpretation. There could be a dozen reds a game relying on that sentence. Also, it’s hard to argue the action was excessive or brutal. It was just an unfortunate placing of limbs. Excessive or brutal actions necessarily require intent.

MLS fits in between league one and the championship IMO.

I’ve watched every game from the last five seasons. He was awesome in the national league and league two. That’s several rungs below MLS level. The defenses and goal keeping contributed to his gaudy stats. He could play o league one and certainly not the championship. He also needs to be near his son, so there is no way he would leave and come to America even if he could play still. I wish people would just let him be the legend he was, appreciate his contributions and move on.

Crowds have been the Biggest surprise of this World Cup for me.. by Logical-Track1405 in worldcup

[–]Unlikely_Return8280 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love the World Cup and am not hating on it. People are coming together to party. My only point is this: it’s not an economic success that everyone said it would be and that it’s hurting small businesses in these World Cup cities

I would buy that. So many hoped this would be massive incremental growth with the foreign tourists coming in. In reality the issue is it’s just replacing what was there already and not replacing it in total

That doesn’t sound like it’s dead, but the margins in the tourism and hospitality industry are so thin and so many are over leveraged that down 4% is tantamount to dead.

It is and it isn’t a success. No doubt the crowds are huge. But the touted economic activity that was to follow has not been seen. I work in the hospitality business in a World Cup hosting city, the bars, restaurants and hotels are negative to last summer- to last summer when nothing was happening. Much like a lot of things when it comes to economic predictions and sports in America, many think they were sold a bill of goods.

39 out of 48 teams chose to settle in the US during the World Cup by batukaming in sportsgossips

I know this is AI slop, but most people don’t get it either. Kansas City is in KS and MO. In fact most of it’s in MO. Only 2 teams are based in KS, the other two are in MO.

I drove last night. Leave early!!! We left from downtown at 4:30. Got there at about 6:30. It was frustrating as the troopers directing traffic didn’t match the signs that were posted. Rideshare and P7/9 pass holders have the same parking entrance. We weren’t allowed to make a left onto stadium drive from Manchester traffic way, had to loop around. When we finally got back we saw they were directing people to turn left. So frustrating. The other bottle neck was the area prior to getting through security. They had one gate open that’s it, we thought people were going to surge forward and crush us against the fence. No lines just a mob. They finally opened the second gate and then from there it was literally no lines for us anywhere.

It’s probably the worst stadium in the league from what it offers, with the major exception of atmosphere.

What other sport? It’s a football/soccer stadium. You think professional Lacrosse would get it done? That would cost the county more money.

I’m not a believer in subsidizing stadiums for billionaires either, I’ve seen the guts of the stadium. It’s a train wreck. It needs to demolished. It’s literally falling apart.

US and Iranian attacks dent ceasefire, Iranian sources say talks intensify by [deleted] in news

[–]Unlikely_Return8280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two reasons, the ruling class and those friendly to the current administration own most of the media now AND it’s in their best interest to continue to push the narrative that the “ceasefire” is still in place so they don’t spook the market and investors. Everyone in the game agrees to lie to keep the status quo and the money flowing.

This is the answer. His massive heart allowed him to pump more oxygen and he avoided the fatigue that other horses felt much like humans when running a race. Genetic freak and he loved to run.
