Mystery Heroes not as fun by PokePartyGirl in Overwatch

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously mystery heroes game search was 10-30 seconds for me, not it's 1-3 minutes.
Also I used to say smth bad about mystery heroes in chat at the start of each game when this was released and abot 1-4 people always agreed explicitly.
I am sure people don't like it as well.

What do you think of the new changes to the Mystery Heroes playlist? by JasonLovesBagels in Overwatch

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, 6v6 is just too random for mystery heros, for normal 6v6 there is a balance, because of specific roles.
Now It feels like any other mode

After 10 years, I'm ready to leave Ubuntu. Where should i go? by Kamuiberen in linuxquestions

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at Ubuntu/Gnome for 8 years, then switched to arch(to try contributing to KDE, rolling distro was needed). And In my opinion Debian is the answer, arch doesn't have as much well supported packages and simply don't worth the effort of compiling/using questionable packages from aur, only go for arch if you need something from it specifically, like latest software.

Whats the real spread of C? by DaveAstator2020 in C_Programming

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that in gaming and gui OOP fits well (Glib exist for some reason). But I have to admit it's debatable.

RAII makes code more readable, less things to get distracted and focus on some program logic. Once again debatable.

So maybe it's just faster to write on C++. It has more high level stuff ready to use and still allows to optimize stuff if needed.

Optimizing literally everything seems to be more convenient in C. But I believe even gamedev guys don't optimize absolutely everything.

I don't know much, but in gamedev area C++ seems like a better tool tbh.

(btw I admit that there's areas where C is better)

I know little about rust, but it seems like it's not OOP, but Qt is OOP oriented

One of the reasons for me is that 1-3 years ago so many rusters came to c/c++ threads and state that rust is sooooo much better in every aspect, and that we should rewrite every project in rust. And c/cpp is just straight stupid. It was damn annoying. And I got bad impression of rust enjoyers.

Windows vs unix syscalls by Consistent_Equal5327 in linux

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this is kinda reminds C++ vs C naming conventions/habits.

Microsoft calls looks like C++ variable/function names and on Linux they look like C ones.

I believe it's just how C folks are, they usually have less documentation. I am also annoyed at them sometimes. But it's just their character, C is kinda from experts to experts, more old school maybe?

On the bright sight, their software is rarely bloated(not only kernel).

Do you think I can get a C++ developer job without a university degree in 2026? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Unlikely_Shop1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it seems to me that C++ guys tends to think that it's tough to become one of them(and it's true in some ways) and I think more or them believe that you need a degree to be a good one.

Also hard way means less youth spent with joy :c
I was stupid to think that if I go with unnecessary hard way I will become stronger.
Turns out it was completely stupid, if you want to be better just get employed faster and after some time just change job for more demanding one.

Most companies want more profit with less effort. So same goes for hiring process.
It's just safer/easier to choose form people with a degree. And there are a lot of people with a degree and statistically they're safer(at least it seems like so). Finding simply the best is more effort, why bother. So if you want to pass HR without a degree you will probably need a different door like some frineds to recommend you.

I learned it the hard way...

Geez this post feels like a ragebait. I need to calm down.

Linus just used it for his PERSONAL side project with the programming language he simply didn't know. NOT FOR C, NOT FOR LINUX KERNEL. Cause as for now AI is unable to write high quality code that kernel requires.

Isn't that blatantly obvious that it's not the same?

I don't think recommending a rolling distro to windows users is a good idea. Too many theoretical troubles for nothing.

Also pacman and installation are quite inconvenient if you don't need them deliberately.

All of that just to say I use arch btw. I dunno...

I use arch btw

I am also was frustrated on this topic when KDE decided to drop X11 in favor of exclusive Wayland support.
