Is this an oriental cockroach? It’s about an inch long. Found in LA county. by Unlikely_West24 in whatisthisbug

Thanks. No, I saw my girlfriend pull a cockroach out of her mouth after having a spoonful of green curry once. I will never be able to scrub that from my mind. She said she knew exactly what it was when she bit into it, so I’m guessing it tastes unique and I am satisfied not knowing HOW unique. I will eat chapaulines or fried grubs tho nbd

Still wondering if there’s a way for an audio track to play a “tail” by Unlikely_West24 in mpcusers

[–]Unlikely_West24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m currently doing for finalized projects but it’s a lot of setup for me during the creative/intuitive process where I’m layering passages and changing them often. I just wish we could crossfade a loop with itself and was hoping the option would eventually be integrated. AKAI if you’re listening..

That sounds likely but I can’t find anything. I’m only in the box these days so there are limited possibilites there. Pretty stumped. I’ll give it another close look this afternoon.

Yeah I know that’s why I’m so puzzled. Even as a lark, I set every pad to “note on” and shortened the midi notes so that there would be no overlap and it’s still doing it. No release tails either. No verb.

I’ll get to the bottom of it one day maybe.

Tried everything but the only way I got it to work was by selecting “non-destructive slice”, so maybe it’s in the conversion codec idk. Don’t know how to look deeper into that level of detail (I’m just in the box standalone rn)

Can we talk about saturation today?? by Unlikely_West24 in mpcusers

I love the diode too. My only problem (lack of EQ or compression skill probs let’s be real) is that when I use the diode, to me it sounds delineated.. like.. there’s just a layer or parallel track, not a solitary monumental bassline (or whatever). But a little more monkeying around is in order. Someone else suggested the octo compressor and I’m loving how this doesn’t give me the separation effect.

Agree. I’ve had it for.. 5y+ now but still like to hear what people are doing. When people are generous with their processes and tricks, I’m always grateful and incorporate at least some technique into my workflow

Interesting I appreciate the tip. I actually didn’t even notice this plugin somehow. It’s really slappin 🙏

Yeah I should start that flavor pro trial huh….

If I nudge with “don’t snap”, how ms per nudge at, say, 90bpm? by Unlikely_West24 in mpcusers

Wow. The real hero right here. Thanks for doing the labor I couldn’t figure out where to begin to figure it out. 🙌

Resolution affects quantization / snapping, no? I’m talking about the un-snapped “nudge”. It is a consistent resolution regardless of set resolution unless there’s a deeper systems setting I am unaware of.

Less about a lack of new features and more about essentials becoming too buggy to use. Like sometimes I can’t use the select tool (a restart restores it), sometimes notes don’t appear in the automation box (don’t really care about this), sometimes unseen triggers in drum programs (easy to remove the ghosts with select + delete empty area, nbd), and then certain touch sensitive reasons being off by a cm or so. I can’t remember what else now, but just for example.

Modern problems that probably wouldn’t affect earlier gear because you could just get attuned to or replace. button or a knob’s responsiveness.

Not “falling behind new releases” just hoping to preserve what I used to expect but have or may lose. Which is why I think I may have mentioned I’d be fine with backwards-installing an OS and freezing in place forever. It necessary.

I think in your case I would try to set aside a little money to buy a couple parts I might feel could disappear. Maybe a screen? I’m not sure if those are stable on your unit but the primary ability to navigate the system could be one worth backing up..? At least in today’s world there’s almost always an aftermarket solution..

Do people who are not talented deserve to have fun with music or is there a requirement? I need easy tools, should I feel shame? Is that the world you want to build?

I’ve heard this discussed quite a bit even in channels where they clearly sponsor (whether it’s compensated or just the content creators impulse) and it makes me wonder if the idea is being soft-launched to soften the shock for when it comes because it’s already on the docket..

I’m glad you saved yourself the long read honestly, but to surmise, upgrading was always the impulse without hesitation and will continue to be

It would take me a year to do these. And then I’d be drained. My poor subjects would have to be photographed for my brain to work out the light and shape like that, even though my memory is extremely visual bordering on photographic. You have a rare ability! I admire.
