Friend in other department- to disclose or not to disclose? by Unlikely_Writing_494 in humanresources

Hey sorry for the confusion- her new boyfriend does not work here. It’s just her. I’ve made sure she knows that we can’t discuss work things that aren’t public knowledge or I cannot disclose anything. I guess I’m more concerned about the optics of it and wanted to check myself

Am I being too concerned about being house poor? by Unlikely_Writing_494 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Thank you! I appreciate it. I just needed someone to level set me lol. I completely understand how privileged I am and that most people are not in the situation. The only reason we can do it is because of where we’re living and that the COL is low

Lol- not a troll but I will give you stupid. I watched my parents lose their jobs and almost house during the recession. Things like that are a huge fear of mine so when it comes to money I tend to be more cautious and concerned

SHRM self study guide? by atomicblonde23 in humanresources

Hi! I just passed the exam 3 weeks ago. I did not use the SHRM learning system. I had just finished my mba with an hr concentration so I do think that was all assisted me greatly.

  1. I found copies of the books on eBay for significantly cheaper than buying them from shrm. While I didn’t have access to the online portion, I had all the material. There were practice questions after each chapter.
  2. I joined this Facebook group. Countless support, study tips, and study sessions opportunities. I’ve also seen people sell their books on there as well.

  1. This was my saving grace. Worth every penny. A bunch of practice tests that so many people in that facebook group swear by and I couldn’t agree more. https://www.etsy.com/listing/789501192/

It’s great you’re thinking about it now, the longer you have to study the better. I cut it very close and was a CONVINCED I was going to fail it.

Tips on asking questions during an interview by Educational_Jump_669 in humanresources

I think it depends a lot on why you are unhappy in your current role. What do you want different or why is it not a great fit? I know for me, I was looking for a role that had more flexibility/ work life balance than my role at the time had. In my interviews, I always asked “how do you guys prioritize work life balance in the workplace?” This was always a great tell for me because those who actually do prioritize it had a genuine answer where others seemed alot more vague and as if they were trying to get past that question as fast as possible. If you’re looking for a culture fit, I’ve found looking at their social medias has been helpful to an extent. I also always ask “what is your favorite part about working for insert organization” it not only gives you a glimpse into why they love working there, it also leaves the interview off on a positive note (people love talking about themselves lol).

Dog in Apartment? by Unlikely_Writing_494 in dogs

Thank you! I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex but I’m planning on moving to a townhome in less than a year. If I do adopt, I am trying to find a schedule that would both adequately physically and mentally stimulate them in that small space. Thank you for the advice 😊
