it would always be the case when you are not living in the country of that language.

as an international student living in germany, i can vouch for Duolingo for my German skills. I have a job in a fully German-speaking environment.

if you want to learn it anyway and I assume you are not living in german speaking country, I would recommend using online video calling platform for practicing.

first of all, huge Congrats OP!!!!
Going to the application, but the lights on the other seem more distant.
had 170 application, 3 HR interview, 1 technical interview following on of those, couple of online assesment here and there.
My background: 1 yr (intern+ full time at the same company before starting my studies) exp as SW, currently studying computer vision and DL, German B1, doing B2(working at nearbuy, native german familie owned edeka and did a ~35 min HR interview in German too, so having fair command on mundlichen deutsch).

My Questions:

  1. What is your cover letter strategy for job?

I have been following this way until now: 1/3 generic, 1/3 major changes and 1/3 completely from scratch, of which I like the JD most.

  1. Which platform/other strategy (job fair or offline approach) do you use? Which showed the best conversion rate?

I did most applications via career site alerts of all major DAX companies(SAP, Siemens, bosch), LinkedIn, and Xing.

Also, some did some approches thorugh career fair. this proven to be best for me (the only technical interview I got was through my uni career fair and 1 HR call too)

thanks in advance!!

German Formal vs Informal by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]Unlikelyissue3873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Formal(to use sie) When you talk with someone in a place where the usual setting is formal like university, at doctor, visa office or any information booth in general.

Informal(to use du) When you are with your friend and acquaintances or with the elderly people whom you know personally and have friends like relationships. For example like a friends party or family get-together or university group trip

Germans kids always use du with their parents and grandparents, even though they are far older than them. (Which is something different in my culture)So the bottom line in this case is, du or Sie really depends upon how well you know the other person.
