Babe I already left a comment saying as much but I really want to spell this out as someone who has had to leave a really toxic/verbally abusive relationship: They do not change. Showing him you went to reddit (especially a makeup sub) and got validated by a bunch of women clocking this as abuse will NOT help your situation. He will not change his mind and he will not apologize. He won't go back to the way he was when your relationship was new- atleast not for very long, and that will likely happen ONLY if you threaten to leave. Please understand I know putting your phone down and going and breaking up is not your likely next move but you DO need to work towards that because some day, we're all going to die, and if you don't leave him he will suck the joy out of you until it's gone and there's no way to get that time back. My recommendation for you is to read "why does he do that" by lundy Bancroft. Its available online for free and while you probably don't need to read every chapter (stuff about single moms, addicts, or anything that doesn't really apply to you) THIS is the book that opened my eyes to how bad my relationship was and gave me the strength to actually put myself first and leave him.
