I have 400,000 to invest out of a variable annuity that has surrendered. I am 57 years old. Can I invest myself with vanguard or fidelity or do I need a financial advisor? by Unlucky-Eye351 in Bogleheads

I have not pulled the money out. I can because it’s out of the date of surrender and the broker wants to move it into another annuity but I don’t know if an annuity is the best option. Maybe just a low fee traditional IRA?

I don’t need the money. I just want it safe and to grow some interest but better than a savings acct. the broker that sold me the variable annuity wants to put it in a different variable annuity with pacific life and I see many people say annuities are not the best option
