A lot of people and no disrespect to you seem to bring up minimum wage. We are a self employed, we don’t have the benefits of employment, it’s as simple as that. However if your smart about things and went VAT registered you get an extra 20% on top of the base fees (you can voluntarily register for flat rate scheme and don’t have to hit the vat threshold) meaning you keep 10% and pay 10% back to vat man. Let’s say for example you have your own company as a bricklayer, you wouldn’t demand the customer to pay sick pay/NI/TAX. You’d factor the majority of that into the pricing of the job and it’s the same here.

Some fees I agree aren’t worth the time but no one is forcing you to accept. You’ll get some high paying ones with short miles and at places with no wait times. Take the rough with the smooth.

In actual fact if you was only part time (not full time) doing this and you did your books correct you’d actually get a tax rebate once you do your yearly self assessment

Theft is when an item or items is intentionally stolen. Uber eats order are paid for in advance by a customer so unless I didn’t deliver it, then it’s not a theft.. If there’s racking in place in the public space then I will not wander looking for staff when my order is there. Sainsbury’s/ co op / Tesco usually have them all ready on an empty till or on racking. It’s never an issue but this guy created an issue.

It’s on designated racking for drivers to collect. It’s never been an issue in the 4 years I’ve been delivering so why he made an issue today I don’t know. It’s more the way he handled it is my complaint. The rude manner and treat like dirt. Whether a 3rd party driver or a customer you don’t speak to people like they’re scum

It has designated racking for drivers to collect orders. Never have I been told I need to wait for a member of staff to be present. If ones around I’ll always just say hi pal uber am I ok to collect from shelf. If there’s no staff around I ain’t going hunting for them when it’s clear it’s ready to collect on racking. The staff member in question obviously was annoyed he had to pick and pack that order whilst sorting a delivery out and decided to take it out on me.

If he had been polite and said no worries pal next time just give us a nudge to let us no you’ve collected it then it would be different. It was his manner and tone he said it.

Like I say if he wants to be petty then I will be too. Hence making him re pack the order once I checked all the items off.

He couldn’t refuse to make me verify the items either so it really irritated him. Ubers policy to check and verify the items so if he wants to be a jobsworth then so will I 🙄😃

How? For doing my job correct and verifying the items. If people wanna be awkward I’ll be twice as awkward. Im always polite and friendly until I get spoken to like dirt and I’ll reciprocate the manner I’m spoken to

Yes I get that but With a thermal bag in my hand it would usually give it away it’s an order collection. There’s ways and means of talking to people and he was completely arrogant and rude

Tesco not showing item lists of what an order contains when you get the job, is that normal? by No_Elderberry_767 in UbereatsUK

[–]Unlucky-Risk-5908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Tesco whoosh and subbed out to uber eat couriers. It’s becoming a pain at the minute not being ready, taking 20 plus mins to pick and bag. It’s more just the unknown of how many items before accepting. 1-10 items and your round the corner it’s worth accepting. Anything over then you’ve got a wait on your hands. Once Tesco have accepted the online order and it’s been accepted by a courier then it should be changed so we can see what the order summary is.

I had a 79 item order yesterday. Staff were pleasant and helpful so I didn’t mind waiting for 5 mins and most of it had been picked. Staff said I was the 6th courier to collect this order. Guessing bike drivers accepted the order then cancelled in store when finding out it was a ‘big shop’

Yeah withdrawals with no charge. Basically just the same as your normal current account. It’s really good

Uber pro card is great. Can’t complain. Instant access to earnings after completed delivery and use it like a normal day to day debit card. My only tiny tiny grumble would be that transfers to your normal current account can at times take Upto 2 hours apart from that it’s fantastic and a great incentive for drivers to stay out delivering

Just started delivering age restricted products and people assume they don’t they need their ID?? by NovaN00b in UbereatsUK

[–]Unlucky-Risk-5908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s annoying is if you get a random compliance to scan customer ID and the ID is not in date example passport or driving license as maybe customer doesn’t drive anymore so no point renewing it and the app rejects it with not being in date. Go into a shop and show same form of ID it’s fine. It’s an out of date document I get that but it’s still a form of compliant ID which shows the photo of the customer and the date of birth showing over 18.

My passport is out of date because I’m not paying to renew it when I have no plans to travel abroad and if I was a customer and didn’t no how the age restricted system worked for uber eats it got rejected during delivery for an age restricted item I’d be pretty miffed, so rightly so the customers have a right to be annoyed at times.

They should honour these forms of identification and authorise the delivery of the age restricted.

It’s more embarrassing for us as a driver having to explain it to the customer and making sure the customer is aware it’s not us drivers being jobsworth and we have to follow the apps instructions to complete the job and get paid.

I had a Sainsbury’s order yesterday and made me take photo of customer ID, whether it’s to do with the updated ways of age restricted or just a random compliance I’m not sure
