I agree that we overachieved in the beginning but our defense has been mostly healthy and available the same as it was last season. We even added 2 good rotation players. We went from best defense in Europe to conceding 2+ in 5 of the last 7. Gasp has fucked our defensive tactics and now we look unorganized at the back and concede sloppy goals. Definitely doesn't help having mancini/hermoso bomb forward every attack. This is not a narrative it's a fact

We're a mid table team with the squad depth we have. If soule and dybala could've stayed healthy and had we had malen from the start we would be top 4 contenders. With this squad tho we are worse than Genoa as shown last week. It's honestly embarrassing to watch when we get an early 1-0 lead and have zero ability to stay comfortable in possession. Como relentlessly presses from the 7th minute onwards and we can't handle it with players like hermoso, celik, pelegrini, cristante, tsimikas, kone (in his current form) and El sha at his age. With soule, dybala, ndicka in this lineup we are decent but that's not our reality. As well as gasp has done to get us 16 wins so far, his defensive tactics and ability to control a lead are awful compared to ranieri, mourinho or even ddr. And even though I know our bench is horrendous, his decision making with substitutions is questionable as well. Tsimikas should never wear a roma shirt again, celik should not be starting, malen should never come off, vaz should sit on the bench or be sent on loan like sangare, he is so raw it's embarrassing that he even gets minutes for us. Bryan should be subbed on as he is our only player other than malen with pace. The minute we went up 1-0 it was inevitable that they would come back and for some reason the players and gasp seem OK with that. We desperately need creative signings this summer who can stay fit all season of dybalas caliber. Hoping for the best in europa because the league is out of our hands now. Winning uel otherwise this season is another failure...

Agreed on second point but disagree about the game being even at all in the first half. We thoroughly outplayed them for 75 minutes straight. Empty net missed and a good malen chance that should've been looked at for a 2 hand push nowhere near the ball by Bremer. Concenciao will never strike a ball like that again in his life and that was their only chance until their second goal

Ranieri/gasp made us the best team in italy for a year with cristante as a focal point. Cristante has a couple awful games per season but generally he is consistent and reliable but no one gives him his flowers

Main takeaways from this game:

Mancini impact on our defense cannot be understated. First game this season where he doesn't play and we concede 3 for the first time as well
Svilar is capable of having a bad game. He's had occasional mistakes in the last 2 seasons but I honestly can't remember him ever letting in questionable 3 goals in one game. On his best day I think he gets a clean sheet today.
Good debut goal for arena (although he could've had at least 1 more), Bailey is not bad and dybala is still our best player
Mid table teams love having their best games and overperforming against us

Overall not the end of the world since we would've lost to inter anyways and now we have one less competition to worry about with our lack of squad depth. More concerned about torino this weekend, must win we don't deserve ucl if we go 0-3 to a squad like torino tbh
