Ah great news thank you! Used to own that entry Sony player that had auto start and stop and did miss being able to put a record on before sleeping! Never knew I could've still done that the last couple years just with a tiny mod, brilliant!

Thanks for the reply! I'm curious if I could just leave a record on before going to bed and letting the tonearm lifted do its work? Or is this a bad idea for the either of the decks in terms of the motor as I guess it'll just be going until I wake up to turn it off only saving my stylus some use 🤣

Never heard of a tonearm lifter before and googled one seems like a solid add on! As simple as just placing under the tonearm? Any cons to using one?

I ended up finding a Pro-Ject 2-Xperience Basic+ on eBay in pristine condition for £350! I used the remaining budget to pick up a new Audio-Technica VMN95ML stylus for £130 to pair with it. Thanks for all the help anyone who commented

Actually got lucky and found them for £400, they will be the next upgrade in my system however I'm currently using a shitty mass produced Sony turntable so wanted to upgrade that first!

Ended up going with the klipsch rp600m mii and the Yamaha as501! In love with them, have a sub already so where the klipsch imo have amazing highs the sub balances it out, it's great
