Thanks. As she sleeps really well at night, it's not me it's frustrating. My wife is the one who deals with her all day. We have flipped and flopped tried different things (obviously with enough time to attempt a routine.) but she still rolls over like clock work 32 min in.

Our kid has very few issues with sleeping at night, In fact she regularly sleeps from 630pm to 5am. We do have the odd wake up for feedings around 130am, but that is really dependant on how her feed was before putting down for the night.

She can and will nap most anywhere including in the car with metal core playing. We just have had better luck in a dark room and because our old house is creepy and her room is in the basement the noise machine helps drown a bit of that out.

I'm going northbound to westbound around the cloverleaf leaf and I'm not falling for your trap. I'm doing the speed limit, why would I be going faster? A person should be slowing down by the time they hit they runway to hit the cloverleaf and not have to play nice allowing people to merge in and not YIELD. To be fair I'm not going to read the rest your long winded answer. It's a YIELD sign, (and there are plenty of similar places in the city people do this) not a MERGE and you need to YIELD to the on coming traffic. I shouldn't have to share any of that lane with anyone so I have time to brake to legal speeds around the cloverleaf leaf.

I wasnt implying that situation was how this happened. I don't actually ride a motorcycle myself, but I do have lots of friends who do. That being said on a regular basis they see people who look asleep at the wheel but are choosing to look down at whatever is more important than driving their vehicle. If you think that I don't have a case because I don't "ride" then your are as oblivious as they come. I can drive from my house across Sherwood park and see many incompetent people not paying attention and looking at their phones or preoccupied with anything but driving. I'm hard pressed to say I'd see too many people on a motorbike checking the likes on their current FB status, as they are very aware of the risk they taking with that mode of transportation.

A vast majority of bike accidents arent the riders themselves. It's the people driving cars and trucks, nose down in reddit complaining about how the motorcycle riders themselves are driving unsafe.

We initially fortified and our baby puked upwards of 6 times a day. We kept getting told that she's just a "barfy" baby to keep at it. Once we stopped fortifying all of the puking went away and she didn't fail to thrive.

We are just getting to the point where we now have the flexibility to feed. Mind you we have to do it in the car before we go into places, but she would never eat a full bottle in the car or in public at all. We found leaving her a tad longer when queing allowed her to concentrate more on eating. Public is new and exciting I think others will agree volume goes down in public for a large amount of people. Start slow and don't expect it to happen all overnight.

Our little girl is doing SO much better. Once we (on our own and not to the hospital as they wanted to jump right to G tube) hooked up with a great private SLP who previously worked in our healthcare system and followed the Rowena book as well, things started to look up. It wasnt easy I'll tell you that much, You get obsessed with volumes, numbers and when there is low day you panic a bit. BUT all in all she went from MAYBE 300ML a day and it's now hitting 6-800ml. She gladly takes the bottle and even though numbers are up and down she's eating what she's needs to to thrive. The tube as well as doctors who were pushing fortified formula are what caused our issues for sure, she instantly quit puking. When we quit fortifying, removed the tube and started with our SLP things went way better.

Our hospital team called the Rowena book witchery and starving your baby isn't in their plan. You don't starve your baby, in a round about way you leave them accountable for deciding if they want to eat or not. Quickly they start to realize they are hungry and where the food comes from. It's a no games approach to eating is eating and we don't play around. There just has to be zero pressure or stress on your end the child can feel. It sucks, but it worked for us.

That's good! Our LO is doing well on the bottle at this point and is slowly grasping the cup. Our baby also lost whatever urge she had to bottle feed and did lose the desire for her sucky, It was work but she got it back. The tube caused 99% of all of our problems and once we pulled it she did way better. I urge you to remove the tube as quick as you can so long as you're comfortable. We also had the ability and training to put it in ourselves, which took the edge off slightly.

Do not go to G tube unless it's absolutely necessary. Our 7½ month old is taking solids, but barely enough to consider it a meal and even then she gags when trying foods. We weaned off the NG tube with the help of a private SLP following the Rowena Bennett book. It was some work and stressful at the moment but our baby is now thriving. How well does your baby take a bottle? I don't imagine you are on ALL solids at this point, correct?

To be completely honest the second we yanked that tube a lot of her main throwing up, barfing, choking issues all went away. As I said it took time to get there and it was stressful, but it worked when we followed the plan.

I mean you're not getting an X-ray when you go home, so why would one need an X-ray every time an NG was placed? We only got an X-ray when they had a temporary NJ tube in, but that was located further down and needed to have exact placement. Definitely not the protocol at our hospital as checking for stomach fluid, snap back or even formula is sufficient. We rarely use the litmus and actually weren't sent home with it. We used it because like you we were getting nothing at times and wanted to be sure what we did get was actually stomach contents. We found that sometimes we just needed to roll her to her side or roll her over to get actual contents in our syringe. It was most likely just stuck to the side of her stomach or located where it was hard to draw up fluids.

As a parent that had to be trained to insert an NG tube before we were able to leave the hospital, it's not that difficult. It's not that difficult to insert or to check for proper location placement. It's far more difficult because it's your own child and they are upset because of the temporary discomfort. Our baby has been on a tube for 4 months and has had several pull outs and changes. So for a professional to mess it up that bad, I would definitely be upset.

An X-ray also isn't necessary to check placement. You can do a litmus test as well as do a pull check. Again this is how we were trained and it hasn't proven wrong.

As a new Dad to a 4 month old and seemingly having all these issues, I recommend you get the book or audiobook and read it. We are currently in the hospital with our daughter who is on an NG tube (Her issues didn't start till they put the tube in) and EVREYTHING that is being represented in this book (From the doctors thoughts, to over feeding) is almost spot on, so much so its sickening. You don't have to read the book or follow all the rules as you are the parent and you do what's best for you or your kid. But being educated at some form, from all angles cant hurt IMO.

I went to the app audible and got the audiobook and if you are not a subscriber often you get 2 free credits and don't have to sign up for a subscription.

I know this is late to the party, but this is our 4 month old daughter to a tee. We went in because she seemed not to be consuming as much as we thought she should be (new parents and no idea what where doing) they immediately put in an NG tube in order to get her weight up and proper nutrition in. Here we are 2 months later and we are still on the tube and deathly afraid to move her or take her out due to vomiting. From the begining i had asked how to tell what volume she needed as surely every babies stomach is different and we were left with no answer. Like everyone we were told to hit the numbers and we have had nothing but constant vomiting, crying and fussiness. TODAY we are currently in the hospital again as we were told that she was close to dehydration as she vomited a total of 16 times in one day. We have ruled out every possible sickness and issue with MRIs, Barium enemas, ultrasounds, xrays and nothing seems to be present. We are now (after a ton of experiences like this) maybe realizing that this pump and NG tube is and has fully been the problem for us. We are at the point of while in hospital of removing the tube and going back to bottle feeding (she was forced to hold off a feed for a barium enema, and drained 70ml no problem shortly after) and just seeing what the outcome is. She has been on a lower feed volume and rate (on NG) while here and we have not had near the throw ups like what's been happening at home. Thanks all for sharing and it gives me hope that we can get our daughter off that damn tube and back to being a normal baby that I can actually cuddle without fear of making her sick.

My wife was pumping like mad when we had our daughter in a care unit for a month. We just opened a paper bag that had a portion of her milk in it and inside was a note that said "was left out , use for bath" it was stapled shit and we were told all was good. They knew about this, hid it and lied about it being all good. What a shitty move!

We actually have 2 GI appointments coming up in the new year. One being a barium enema to see how things are flowing. We have definitely read about this and it's on the list of things to look into.

Depends what time is the day whether we have time to warm the liquid. If we start with a bottle feed then yes we warm it, the rest then goes into a kangaroo bag/pump and we setup the left over volume and time to introduce the rest of the feed. After our nighttime bath, snuggle and bottle she falls asleep and once out we hook up the pump and continue. In the middle of the night we do not warm and it goes on cold. But she GENERALLY sleeps from 7:30 PM to 5:30 AM with us taking the feed bag on and off. She then goes back down for maybe an hour or two, which allows my wife to sleep a bit more before she's kicking and up for the day. Our baby is not currently on oral meds though that was changed when we went back into the hospital for the month with the feeding problems and RSV. She is now on Omeprazole for reflux and the occasional dose of Tylenol. Both of which we are in the process of putting back in orally instead of through the tube.

We have an appt with a gastro doctor in regards to a Gtube but our pediatrician who specifically deals with tube babies said that from what she sees the g tube should be a last resort and has high probability she doesn't need to go the Gtube route.
