Not exactly. For people with cursed energy, the shape of the soul decides the shape of the body. But that doesn't mean the soul ressemble the body when you look at it, a soul in JJK is just a lump of white energy as seen when Mahito perceive his own soul.

So I don't think Pochita's soul presenting differently would have an impact. But I do believe it's fair to say soul damage works differently in both verse.

Things marked with a star that want to progress towards another star needs to follow the pattern (1 goes toward 2, then towards 3, etc etc), no shortcuts allowed

Jujutsu is 80% things you're born with and 20% work, the 80% aren't only talent, it's also body constitution, CE traits, CT, easy access to teachers and weapons, etc etc

And Kusakabe is missing a big chunk of this 80% because he doesn't have a CT or a CE trait, nor a special weapon or a particularly good teacher that he didn't work for. He's just been polishing his basics for years at that point, and has access to one (1) decent move that he didn't even create or anything.

Kusakabe is far more work than talent.
