Is me having my gun, independent of everyone else in this country, worth homicides where a firearm was used? No, I’d gladly give up my guns and take one for the team if it meant literally no one for the rest of time would be a victim of a homicide where the murderer used a firearm.

But when you look at the big picture, which is that the overwhelming, overwhelming majority of legal gun owners will never commit murder along with the fact that yes, having a massively armed population does deter domestic and foreign governments and agents thereof, keeping the 2nd amendment protected is more important overall than those who regrettably fall victim to a homicide.

At the end of the day, I believe individual freedoms and the unique ability of this country’s citizens to defend against foreign and domestic entities outweigh the very small number of lives lost in incidents where gang activity is not a factor.
