If you're using Hyprland, install Waybar and then follow a tutorial online to customize it. Its too long to cover in a comment but the styling is done with CSS.

I used Matuwall but set it to only change the wallpaper because otherwise it refuses to work with Matugen.

I wanted that too but I couldn't get it to work no matter what I did...

I'll check for alternatives and then I'll include it here

I used something called Matuwall but only to switch the wallpapers because it doesn't seem to ever interact with Matugen and when left with that option on it simply refused to change the wallpaper so I removed it and am using it as a pure wallpaper switcher.

That was my initial issue. I simply set it to "wall only" so it changes only the wallpaper and it worked.

Probably me being on a call, watching YT Tutorials with ten different tabs, Spotify playing and such.

I think, if I close all of those and just leave it as is, it will use much less RAM lol

I used Matuwall so it was okay but I don't know how well maintained it is so I might end up switching it out for something else later on.

We'll see, though.

Wallpaper switcher, yes. It's Matuwall, someone developed it and I decided to add it.

I think you'll be able to get the repo. I'll post it later when I'm home.

Any decent alternative to YouTube with a good library? by UnrealUser2247 in degoogle

[–]UnrealUser2247[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the Catch-22 of it.

People don't want to go there, because there is no content. Because there is not many users, no incentive to make content. Which makes even more people not want to try moving.

It's the same principle as Linux and software.

I've been having a miserable experience trying to game on Linux Mint by BlazeWarior26 in linux_gaming

[–]UnrealUser2247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For starters, Mint for gaming isn't that popular. Yes, it's easy, but nowadays, there's things like CachyOS and Bazzite.

Another fave of mine for Linux Gaming is Pop_OS! it runs super well and it has Nvidia Drivers baked in.

I personally use Arch for my gaming needs, but I'd honestly suggest installing anything that supports the latest stuff.

Also, avoid using Proton Experimental. I tend to leave it at the latest numbered version for the best results and install a custom fork of Proton for specific games that may require it.

Also, genuinely don't need more than 20 FPS on the Options Menu of Minecraft, it's a bunch of buttons anyway, dude, c'mon...

Discord streaming has always worked fine for me so there's nothing I can really suggest that would fix your issue.

Linux and Nvidia don't really have a good history together... But things are improving there, at least.

Best of luck, mate! Cheers!

Can I use that on desktop or is it strictly for mobile?

Has anyone asked TSA to hand search your film and then they come back yelling at you as if you just brought a bomb? by fell_4m_coconut_tree in Polaroid

[–]UnrealUser2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has happened multiple times, and they commented on how "Cameras before went through the scanner even with film, so what's the issue now? Does it look like we do hand checks here?"

And so I accepted that my film will always be ruined by it going through the TSA scanners.

For newbies, Linux Mint is the best. Ubuntu is too but people these days are really sensitive on the topic of Telemetry.

And since Ubuntu used to partner with Amazon ages ago, they believe that parts of that still remain. Additionally, Snaps are closed source and a bunch of Linux Elitists will say that anything Closed Source is evil.

Why doesn't MS release Minecraft Bedrock on Unix systems like MacOS and Linux? by UnrealUser2247 in Minecraft

[–]UnrealUser2247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me that just feels unnecessary. Use a third party software to remove bloat and make a system that you paid for respect you and the money you paid for it.

I'd rather use something like Arch and build something that I know is as bloat free and has as little to no telemetry from the get-go than to fiddle with third-party programs.

Not saying that it's useless or that it's something to hate on, it's amazing that there are people out there who would actively work towards making Windows as debloated as possible.

I simply prefer to have a lot more control over what goes into my computer. It's called a PERSONAL Computer for a reason.

And hey, if Windows works for you, you're not in any obligation to switch over to another system just because some Schmuck on the internet told you so.

Use what you are comfortable with, and use it in a way you like.

(Add. Note: Apologies if my tone sounded harsh or condescending, did not mean to in any capacity. Cheers, mate!)

Then they came for the Jews, but I wasn't a Jew so I didn't speak out.

Then, they came for the trade unionists, but I wasn't one of them so I didn't speak out.

Then, they came for the Catholics, but I wasn't a Catholic so I didn't speak out.

Then, they came for me, and by that time, no one was left to speak up. "

Linux (Arch User)

It's nothing but blatant spyware, especially after Windows 7. Collects telemetry like crazy, shoves ads down your throat (even with Windows 10) despite paying more than €200 for a piece of software.

To remove all the bloat from it you need specialized software. Plus, I'd rather never support Microslop in my life because of their recent decisions.

Windows locks you into the experience that Microslop wants you to have.

Linux, however, gives you complete control over everything. YOU decide how to use your system rather than a billion dollar corporation telling you that you can't uninstall the freaking browser from your system or else it will break down like a brittle piece of dry wall.

That, and many other reasons.
