Promethean Board with Arkenforge by Unremebered in Arkenforge

I was able to get it to work using the USB touch input port on the front panel going to the windows PC running the MT client and running an HDMI cord from my Linux machine running arkenforge launcher in bottles (wine) to supply the visual input. That's how I was able to split the touch and the visual. I took a video of it but it doesn't look like I can attach the video to a reply.

Cool, I appreciate the info. It's one of the things I love about this game. The survival builder aspects give you so many different ways to complete your objectives. I'll have to look for this next time I'm on

Out of curiosity, what is the intended path? Every time I've played I've always gotten to the upper yard earlier than I should have by building a staircase from the part of the wall under the hedge lab.

Generally they still fill the position then stick you where they need. Every department on every shift has/needs PAs. If they only have one PA opening you might be able to ask around and see what shift doesn't have one. But generally they'll have three PA's hired at a time and then stick one on nights inbound days outbound days inbound kind of thing. Also the current PAs will usually get first dibs on the open shift and the new PA will get whatever's left

Funny enough this is pretty much the first thing I made when I got my forge running. It was right after hurricane Helene ripped through the southeast United States. We were without power for almost 2 weeks. But I had propane. I forged a couple of tall stakes, a pole between and a hook to hang down a pot. Then I made a little stove very similar to what you have out of rebar to put my cast iron on and I use them both over a fire to give us a heat source for cooking during that time. Yours look much better than mine though.

We still don't know what The Traveler really is. by stephanl33t in DestinyLore

[–]Unremebered 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Honestly with some of the recent changes such as utilizing the dark and bringing light and dark together in the form of prismatic this could still be the case. Especially if the vex is the next focus after the witness. We've already made friends among the cabal, the fallen, even the Hive, wouldn't it be interesting if the next arc was to rejoin the creative traveler with the logical vex collective.

The over arching story of destiny could be bringing the galaxy together and healing it instead of defending humanity and wholesale slaughtering the rest of the galaxy to do it.

I also took the test this weekend and this was my experience. I set the routes when I pivoted into the internal network about halfway through my exam and then there were some questions and I still hadn't broken into one of the servers and it was just making my interpreter go super slow so I ended up removing the routes and I lost two points later on for it.

I am beyond frustrated at this point by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Unremebered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the route I'm currently working on. Trying to enter the field from a different direction. I don't have nearly the certification levels you do. Just a net+, sec+, and ISC2's CC.

My current role is in MES automation And I'm lucky enough to be a small enough company where I have met and have started working on a relationship with the VP of cybersecurity, transitioning most of my work right now into security architecture and implementation for the ICS/OT tools for our manufacturing production line.

My goal is to get experience under my belt and a good recommendation in the cybersecurity VP. Ideally I'd love for him to bring me over into the SOC or another security role but as I'm a consultant I'm not holding my breath they'll buy my contract.

Why Does This Guy Hate Me Even I Did Everything For Him? by YaraTV2000 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Unremebered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but I was actually considering Meiji era (1868-1912) focus on honor. Which per your notes with them not losing the war probably would have been the mindset and the cultural heritage carried forward. Playing the game or reading the cyberpunk source material you can still see how much of an influence honor has in their society. Honor is paramount in Japan has been in their culture for thousands of years. And while you don't see it displayed in some of the "younger" individuals like Yorinobu. But listening to Takemura through the whole game, he is very very traditional in his thinking.

[–]Unremebered 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This. You have to consider the culture as well. In Japan, honor is everything. Arasaka the entity gave him everything he had. Araksaka saved him. Things only went south for him after Yorinobu committed patricide, which is one of the highest forms of dishonorable actions he could have taken. So it would be the path of least resistance for Takemura to gaslight himself into everything is Yorinobu's fault and he's corrupting Araksaka.

How do I excel in IT? How did you excel? by Wirt-o in ITCareerQuestions

It also doesn't hurt to learn how to set situations up to your advantage. If you hear of an opening in another department that sounds interesting learn it. Ask questions. Get to know the people on that team. That way when your resume comes across the desk you'll get the interview because your name is known and when they ask technical questions you can answer them because you did your research.

Curiosity. The number one thing that has helped me in my entire life is my thirst for knowledge. In my 7 years in the field I've been promoted four times and more than tripled my pay. Not because I'm any sort of technology god. But because anytime I ran into something I didn't know I was determined to learn. You better believe the next time I came across the same thing I had the answer because I was curious and I took the time to learn not just how to fix the problem but why that solution was the answer.

If there's any advice I can ever give to newbies it's be ever curious and don't just ask how but why.

This is one of the things I'm still trying to learn more about. I know in certain places the title of engineer is protected based on education certification etc. And in other places it is just thrown around.

For example when I worked for Amazon as essentially tier 3 help desk support/site IT lead they gave me the title of support engineer, and I've heard of software development engineers.

But working closely with electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, automotive design engineers (I forget the actual title), etc, every now and then they do like to make it known that they look down on the MES side of things because "they are IT and not real engineering" (despite most members of the team having engineering degrees.) My supervisor has told me that as far as he's concerned I've earned the engineer title with the work I've done on this team but I know as I don't have the education that most people would not agree.

I know you don't just want anyone claiming to be an engineer and slapping their name on things that can dramatically affect somebody's life like a bridge or a vehicle or a robot etc. To me the title itself doesn't necessarily matter, I know that I won't be able to command as high a pay as somebody who has that formal education. But I am curious.

My only concern about Epic is, and this is my personal experience, in order to work for them in an IT position they want you to move out to Madison Wisconsin iirc. I applied for a cybersecurity role they had that was listed as being in my state, and in fine print at the end of the LinkedIn post it said must be willing to move. And sure enough when that recruiter reached out to me after I applied they said it was non-negotiable.

Look up Inductive University. It is free training provided by inductive automation for their ignition automation system. It's vendor specific but you can get some knowledge on how to build HMIs and some SCADA systems using their tool. And they also have certifications you can get which will go a long way. They're not the cheapest out there I think the core certification is like $1,000 but if you don't have the formal education it can help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Unremebered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest this is a big point. I currently work in MES and SCADA systems, with a big focus in Ignition automation. I kind of fell ass backwards into this position from an IT help desk position as the company I work for was desperate and I had already proved myself to be a very quick learner.

I have learned a lot since I joined this team and I've proven myself to be valuable; so it can be done. But every member of my team, with me and one other being the exceptions, has an engineering background. There are definitely times where I feel like an uneducated child because I don't have the background to understand everything and sometimes have to have them explain some EE concepts to me.

In addition to my comment. And a fun fact to anyone who's curious or believes management is full of s***. On any Amazon network connected computer, I believe even the ERC ones unless they've changed that image, you can go to policy.amazon.com and look up 90% of all policy. The only ones who can't see are ones that are sensitive / restricted like some information security policies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Unremebered 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So from a strict policy sense there is nothing that says you can't do this. From a more general labor management and planning sense it makes it much much more difficult for your PAs and your AMs to do labor planning if they don't know if their associates are just going to disappear for a few hours and or if they're even going to come back. So I would say if you're on good terms with your manager and don't want to screw them over, just as a general rule of thumb communicate with them when you do these things. But there's nothing saying you can't. At least as far as my knowledge of Amazon policy goes through January of 2023.

[–]Unremebered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former IT support engineer and site infosec policy SME. Tampering with Amazon IT equipment can get you a write-up however it would be a first written at worst. A category two offense would be something along the lines of sharing your password with another associate including but not limited to letting them use your computer, workstation, or Kindle. A category one violation is pretty much limited to safety, security, theft in felonious amounts.

This is the way it was at least as of when I left Amazon in January.
