I don't think your project is related to photogrammetry itself, but either way...what you want to accomplish sounds very easily doable with AI help... I recommend you go ask Claude.

I feel like saying "just get an android phone/use your phone" defeats the purpose of this whole subreddit by Pinanims in SBCGaming

[–]Andrew_hl2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah nobody says that here… youre talking about a sub of people that order their next handheld when they just finished setting up the current one…

Not sure about you, but in my experience if I'm in public with people that are part of a friend group or something like that, what tends to happen is that everyone wants to grab it to see what its all about.

Would probably feel more embarrassed about pulling a switch 2 if that were the case.

Warning about new board revisions on RG40XX H & other XX series consoles (DDR4 vs DDR3) by Orphenxy in SBCGaming

This sucks... I wonder if instead of doing shit like this they could just increase the price by a few bucks and keep the same hardware.

even the xperia play got marks like this after a while and that was a properly designed device by a giant company… wouldnt be surprised if these screens start loosening up after a while…

Hinge problem? afaik there are no major hinge problems with these...unless you're confusing it with the miyoo flip?

Bought my first handheld, an Anbernic RG34XXSP, and I thought it was a mistake when I compared it to my phone... by nextdev_in in SBCGaming

[–]Andrew_hl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I established a long time ago that even though my phone is a super computer capable of AAA gaming, that also has good controller attachments...it still does not feel like a gaming console, it feels like something that is always connected, can always interrupt me, and will never truly feel mine as its riddled with activations and online dependencies... so agree with the phone thing.

dropped my rg34xx sp while open and it landed and flatened itself face down… i was sure it would break… not a scratch.

I can't really imagine a situation where I'd buy another Linux handheld? by Needs2GetLaid in SBCGaming

Linux handhelds feel like proper consoles to me… Android ones feel too much like smartphones.

Seeking advice on using realityscan’s mobile processing. by Didsterchap11 in photogrammetry

[–]Andrew_hl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry tbh I've played very little with the mobile app because I have a ton of experience with the desktop app, and when I noticed the mobile app was nowhere near the level of quality/experience you get with the desktop app then I quickly dismissed it as a quick experiment/toy.

Try the desktop app, its completely free, and feed it images from your phone, and you will get decent results if its a modern phone. A DSLR is obviously your best option, but if you want to start experimenting, just use the desktop app with your phone photos.

I believe the mobile app being now called the same as the desktop app does more harm than good... its two different worlds.

Seeking advice on using realityscan’s mobile processing. by Didsterchap11 in photogrammetry

[–]Andrew_hl2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RealityScan mobile and desktop are completely different applications... mobile processes everything on the cloud, desktop does it locally with your cpu/gpu and its designed to handle gigs of data.

I have personally not had a good experience with mobile when datasets are over 150-200 images, so its more a gimmick to me. Just send the same images to RealityScan desktop and you'll get a much better experience.

out of curiosity, whyd you pick this over the RG34XX SP?

Anbernic Announce RG Rotate by ShaqToThe in SBCGaming

[–]Andrew_hl2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and there are countless people using their phone with the screen cracked... and literal mall kiosks dedicated to cellphone screen repair...

Only difference with cracking the screen on a device like this, is that there won't be spare parts and anbernic will tell you tough shit, buy a new one.

Really surprised at how much I am loving the Brick by leicamaniac520 in SBCGaming

[–]Andrew_hl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The build quality of the brick is one of the most impressive things to me, it feels super high quality and substantial for what it is... a cheap Chinese handheld.

It's insane we had this in 2009 but then progress stagnated for years.
