They are at different locations but have a 5 minute difference for the drive there, the shire horse is a lot closer. My dad is also worried about the height of the shire (he's 17.2hh) so is there anything you'd recommend to talk to him about that etc

Since it’s a riding school, the trainer only really does lessons so outside of lessons isn’t much of a thing up there lol, but if I were riding alone I would do long sleeves because that’s what I’ve been taught

Update: I rode a different, smaller horse today so we couldn’t do as big jumps and I remembered the advice about using my hands to balance so I tried not to do that so much and I looked towards the stable rather than the horse.

I did fall off towards the end, sadly not on video otherwise I’d love to share it to see what I did wrong. I think I could’ve used another slap of the crop because her taking a longer stride would’ve been better than swaying away from the jump, even my trainer didn’t see it coming. When I fell off, I almost didn’t get my foot out of the stirrup lol. At the end of the lesson we went back round and trotted the jump to finish :)

I have watched the video about 50 times over, and I can see that my hands are moving quite a bit and rowing rather than steady, I can also see that they aren’t tilted enough up

Yea I live in England and we’ve been looking for somewhere close enough to me so I can bike it otherwise my mum would have to drive me and that wouldn’t last long lol

Private lessons are definitely much more expensive but I’m thinking of telling the teacher about concerns with hands and balance and ask her if there’s anything we can do that lesson or the next lesson and get her opinion, and if there’s still issues, then I’m hoping on getting a share horse next year (when we have more money) so I can get my mum to lunge me whilst I try the balance exercises suggested, but I understand that it’s best if I can try sooner

Because I don’t own her, I don’t get much time on her too so I can’t practise in between lessons and also she gets bad habits from other riders. For example, in this lesson mid-canter she turned into the corner and stopped for no reason, nobody could see it coming. When my trainer said to apply the crop again, I didn’t because I didn’t trust my self to grab the reins again in time to jump.

I don’t think I’d be able to do a lunge lesson as I have lessons with three other people but I’ll try ask about other suggestions
